exclusively for 7 months, completely weaned at 8.5 months.
I started really drying up, and we started supplementing due to my miserable pumping output at work. I couldn't keep up with her intake, and wasn't going to stress out trying.
I BF/pumped exclusively till DD was 4 months. I wasnt pumping enough at work (and also despised pumping at work) and once I used up my freezer stash I had to suppliment formula. I gradually worked down to 0 pumpings/day and therefore DD was getting more and more form during the day and less and less BM. Now at 8 months I BF at wakeup and bedtime and don't pump during the day. At this rate, I'd like to continue doing this till 12 months. So far, my supply hasnt suffered and i've been able to maintain the 2 nursings.
I BF/pumped for 3 months, then EP's for another 2.5 months when my boys started refusing the breast (they'd learned the bottle was faster and easier). I started cutting back pumping and used my freezer stash when I went back to work at 5 months pp and they were on 100 % formula by 6 months.
9mo 6d and counting! I'm so proud of that b/c in some ways it's been a lot of work. We have had times that I worried we'd never get back on track, he'd burn through my stash, and we'd have to supplement with FF, but we're still going strong. I'd like to make it to 18mos, which I think would be doable for me except that we want to TTC2 this spring, and I haven't gotten AF back. I'd like to know my cycles better before we TTC2, so I'll probably wean after 12mos.
Still am here, too. It's been working out great for us, cheaper/easier than formula and is a surefire way to get DS to go to sleep. I'm planning to until DS weans, within reason (as in, if he's headed off to preschool....j/k hahaha)
6 weeks ...I tried everything but my milk never came in I was only producing about 2 to 3 ozs a day and I has to supplement with formula so I just stopped..It was very hard but that's what worked best for us.
Still bfing...trying to reach the 1 year mark but getting a bit discouraged (too time consuming with all the pumping, etc etc). I'll hang in here for as long as possible.
4 months, but I had emergency gallbladder surgery and then another surgery 2 days later and my supply dropped drastically, in addition to all the meds I was on. I really wish I was still BFing though.
Still bfing. It's easier, cheaper, and healthier. I will go until dd self-weans, but if she weans before 2, I will pump and give her bm so she gets the full immunity support from bm. I would bf even if it were more expensive and harder, so I guess my first two reasons are more of conveniences than reasons.
Still am. I supplemented for a while and now he only gets 1 4oz formula bottle right before bed. I'm planning on continuing for a while, at least until a year, possibly longer if he wants it.
I provided exclusive BM for my girls for the first 6 mo by pumping, and then kept pumping until 9 mo. My supply took a huge dip at 6 mo, so they only got about 1/2 BM and 1/2 formula from 6-9 mo and then, right before 9 mo, it took another huge dip and they were only getting about 1/4 BM.
I stopped pumping at 9 mo because I was making very little and taking Reglan to even make that much. After 9 mo on Reglan, I was concerned about s/e and felt like it was time to take care of myself, too.
I BF DD #1 for 12 months. I weaned at that point because she could drink cow's milk and I never really liked Bf-ing and so I didn't see the need to continue when she could get all of her nutritional needs from food. I am still bf-ing DD #2 and will continue until she is a year unless something happens that makes my supply go away, like illness or something.
Melissa, Mom to Audrey 01.11.06, Brianna 04.21.08, Clara 09.09.10 & Baby #4 is on the way!
With ds it was 2 1/2 years. With Kate I hope to go that long but will take her cues on weaning. I feel there are a lot of benefits from extended nursing and look forward to nursing her as long as I can.
still pumping now and plan to stop @ 1 yr. The reason why i'm still doing it is mainly for cost purpose and the benefit of Breastmilk - so far when other babies at the daycare got sick, my son has never gotten sick yet. I believe in benefits of BM in giving DS better immune system.
Still going. Plan to continue BFing and home and pumping during the day at work until one year. I will stop pumping at one year, but will continue morning and night nursing probably for another 6 months after that, as long as my supply can keep up.
still going. i'll stop pumping at work once i have her established on regular milk. Then I'll BF her mornings and nights until she weans herself. I'm hoping to make it to 24 months that way.
I would love to EBF her, but since I work, I am really done with pumping.
DS was breastfed until 4 months. ?I fed him for the first month and pumped and fed for the next 3 months. ?
I was told that he had reflux and wasn't getting full by the?pediatrician?at 1 month so she suggested pumping and feeding and adding cereal to his BM. ?Looking back on it I wish I would have just kept feeding him and tried to see different LCs before I started pumping... ?I stopped so early because I couldn't stand pumping anymore.
Still am breastfeeding full force. I think it is the best thing that you can give your child. To help not only with their health but your own women health! God gave us boobies for a reason and we need to use them!! I know for some people it isn't possible but hey atleast you tired, there are some that won't even try....
4 1/2 months. DS was 19 lbs at 4 months, and eating every 1- 1 1/2 hours during the day and at least 4 times at night. We were both so sleep deprived! Also, I started medication for anxiety issues that was not recommended for nursing mothers, so I decided to wean. We are all happier now!
