This is a repost, sort of, from yesterday that I put on the September 2011 board, but I thought I would post here for other experiences. Yesterday morning I felt a "gush" while sitting with my 1-year old. I honestly thought I was just leaking a little because I have been sick and coughing a lot, and it happens (sorry if it's gross). But when I got up to go to the bathroom, my pantyliner was full of red blood and there was blood in the toilet too. Of course I freaked out, called my husband, and then my doctor. I immediately went in to get things checked out.The baby I lost was measuring 12 weeks when he or she died. I am 11 weeks now with this pregnancy. I was so upset.
So my doctor was able to find a heartbeat (with rpm in the 160s). We were so relieved, especially my husband who was expecting the worst. The feeling of relief that he expressed was pretty powerful. But why am I bleeding? So my doctor sent me home with some progesterone suppositories and instructions to rest, checking in on Monday. Resting is hard when you have a very mobile toddler. I have had help, thankfully. The spotting is light and brown at this point, and has been for awhile. I don't have any painful cramping, but as most of you know, you always cramp a little during pregnancy.
My doctor said that it could just be complications with my fibroids, or something worse like the placenta bleeding. It could be as simple as a small blood vessel breaking. My cervix was closed.
I just don't know what to think or feel. I'm terrified my body is having trouble with the transition from ovary to placenta taking over progesterone producing. I don't believe resting does anything, but I am doing what I'm told. I just wish I could plug my body into a computer and find out what the heck is going on.
Limbo sucks.
Re: Blood
(((Hugs))) Did they do an u/s?
I had a very bad bleed at 12 weeks (exactly) and the ER found that I had a small placental tear. A SCH formed under it. They told me that it's common and almost always happens around that point in pregnancy. I'm still spotting (5 weeks later), but it's gradually gotten better. It doesn't seem to be affecting the baby, but they're keeping an eye on it. So, things can be okay even after a bad, scary bleed.

You know, I don't even think my doctor mentioned SCH. I did not get an u/s. He said he wanted to "save it for a bit later". I am not sure what that means, but since we heard a heartbeat and my cervix was closed, he wanted to wait and see if we really needed the u/s. I figure I will have one or two more than I should already because of my stupid fibroids. On top of that, I had LEEP done and though I know my cervix is strong, they like to check it out at around 16 weeks. I am relieved that these things can happen and turn out fine. The timing sucks though. Right around the same time my last baby would have died. There is just so many things to worry about, and after you have had a loss, pregnancy is so different.
