My BFF is getting married. She just told me yesterday they decided to call off the big wedding planned for August and elope in May (go on vacation and get married alone). Her family is supportive of that and so am I. They just want to use the money towards a new home, makes sense.
Her sister and I want to give her a shower. She is 35, has a 17 year old son, and this is her 2nd marriage, but she got married the first time right out of high school.
They both have their own households already established. So what would be an appropriate kind of shower gift? I'm asking here, because we want to keep it a surprise.
Gifts for stuff for new house, lingerie, money for the trip???
Re: Bridal Shower Question
We did a small shower for my cousin, she and her husband had been living together. It was a wine shower, their new house had a wine cellar so everyone brought bottles of wine, and some cute vintage wine glasses (she was really into those, she has the coolest mis-matched wine glasses).
Maybe you could do something like that?
Oooo A cooking gadget party! That would be amazing!!

I threw a shower for a close friend in a similar situation, and we gave her money for the most part. We knew that's what they really needed. Not fun, but it was very useful for them!
You could also do a home depot gift card if they might use that with the new house.
So throw her a Twilight Lingerie party...lots of black lace, whips, black roses
Or better yet: ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW party.
You could have mini MEATLOAFs, Red RUM punch, blow pops in a vase. Give gifts of black leather lingerie.
Have RHPS playing in the background and have a Time Warp DANCE off as a party game
This is hilarious. So is the twilight theme. I'll have to ask her sister's opinion and we'll put something together.
