XP: from 1st Trimester Due date question

ok, so I have a 36 day cycle.  I ovulated on Feb 11th, got my BFP on the 20th.  My question is, doctors method, would calculate my EDD from the date of my last period 1/22 making my due date Oct 29th.  however, since my cycle is longer, FF and TCOYF is saying that my EDD is Nov 4th.  I think I should go with the 4th.  I have my appt on the 16th so, I have to wait till then.  Did any of you fall into the same circumstance?  Just hoping that my Dr goes with 11/4... as that would be more accurate. For us VBAC mammas, have any of you said that the date of your last period was different?  It would be ok if it were 2 or 3 days, but this is a whole week off.  I don't want to be sent to a c-section if I am not even really due yet if they keep the EDD "doctor's method" way.

  • I am not a VBAC mom yet, but my doctor did ultrasounds and based my EDD off of the baby's growth. I would run your thoughts by your doctor, though.

  • I'm a VBAC hopeful and at my ICAN meeting, they taught us to have as many due dates as possible. My "official" due date is based on my LMP because that will buy me as much time as possible.

This is what I am hoping for.  The difference is 6 days, which is a lot to us Vbac hopefuls! : )

  • Ditto PP.  My due date with M was 11/4 based on LMP but it was officially changed to 11/10 because of ultrasound dating.  She was my first so I don't know if VBAC changes anything but I would see if they will change your due date based on ultrasounds.
  • Yep, I gave myself a couple extra days with the first practice I was with 3/11/11.  Even with the early u/s which measured 3/6/11 they didn't change it b/c it was within a week.  Based on my charting/temping it's 3/8/11 and I felt comfortable sharing the real info with my new midwife group, which I think says something about the practice.

  • I would insist on going with the Nov. 4th EDD.  Personally if my doctor wouldn't listen to me on this subject, I would wonder if they were the right doctor for me.

FWIW FF gave me an EDD that was 2 days later than my LMP date and I told my doctor that and he was fine with it.  I don't want to be told "you're X weeks, you need an induction/c-section" if I really still have 2 more days to go into labor on my own.  And I definitely wouldn't want to be told that if there was a week's discrepancy.

  • My due date was originally 1/5 based on LMP. According to the 12 weeks u/s it was bumped up to 12/27. Not thinking I accepted that, but as it got closer and I wasn't making progress I started to panic. I had used FF and I knew the day I conceived. I explained it to my OB and while they didn't change my due date, they did let me go longer than they originally intended to. Knowing what I know now, I would have fought their EDD from the beginning to buy myself even more time.

  • My LMP was before I conceived my first child, so we couldn't go by that anyway! I had a dating scan where they said my EDD was "around 11 Oct" and said it was too early to be all that specific. At my 12-week, the woman told me it was 13 Oct. I relayed to my doctor the 13 Oct date, and that is what he wrote on my paperwork and what we used going forward. Then when I was 39 weeks, I was talking to another doctor at the hospital (there were pre-e concerns at the time) and she said the computer system still had 11 Oct. The tech from the 12-week scan had never changed it in the system.

I shouldn't have been surprised. It wasn't the first instance of poor record-keeping. My GP was livid when I mentioned I had a CVS and there was no mention of it ANYWHERE. *sigh* Anyway, the doc and I had a long talk about which date to use. I said I didn't care since I wasn't going to make it to 42 weeks anyway, and the doc was the one going "are you sure?! This could be important!" If it had been 6 days, I'd definitely have fought it!

In your shoes, I'd probably lie about LMP. I had taken my FF charts and everything in with I was pregnant with my first, and my doc pulled out his wheel and said, "yeah, well, this is how *I* calculate it." *eyeroll* Funny how my u/s showed exactly the date I tried to convince him of in the first place?.
