Sleeping in car seat...

Anyone else's baby not wanting to sleep in the cradle or crib? We can only get him to sleep in his carseat! So we have him in his carseat next to our bed. I've had friends do that with their babies too, but I really dont want to continue this...anyone else having this probleM?

    yes, we've done that before when DD was very little. i think it's fine.

    YES! My little man (who's 5 months now), would sleep ONLY in his carseat until we forced him to sleep in his big boy bed.  I tried several times to break him of this, but he would sleep so terribly that I would cave and put him back in his carseat and he'd start sleeping thru the night again.  We had to get him to sleep in his crib when he learned how to wiggle out of the seat.  So, after nearly a month of sleeping in his crib, he's sleeping a little better...but not nearly as well as he did in his carseat. Little stinker, I guess he's gonna have to take his carseat to college with him! I hope you have better luck breaking yours than I did!

    You're lucky that your DC likes his carseat.  My DD hates hers and it's hell_ driving her around anywhere.  Sigh.

    I don't want to be alarmist, but my pedi was telling me it is not a good idea for babies to sleep a long time (like through the night) in carseats. Infant seats curl babies backs a bit which can put stress breathing through the night as well as exascerbate reflux symptoms. He is generally not that alarmist, but as with all advice, take it or leave it! :)

     

    And btw, you ARE lucky your baby likes it carseat! mine HATES it!

    At as young as your DC is (guessing from your pregnancy ticker teehee), let him sleep wherever and whenever he will sleep.  My DS has always hated his car seat, would only sleep on me or someone else, didn't sleep longer than 10 minutes laid on his own until 3.5 weeks.  Good luck!
