BW after a C-section?

I just had LO by C-section on Tuesday and just got home today. I'm usually very independent and have a hard time asking people to do things for me (not that I have a choice right now anyway).

As I was putting our hospital stuff away, I noticed the Vat sitting next to the pack n' play.Has anyone used a wrap after a c-section? As of right now, I'm not supposed to lift anything heavier than LO. She is constantly wanting to nurse and be held and I'd love to do things with both hands instead of just one. It's one of the reasons I got the wrap.

Has anyone used a wrap after a c-section? Should I wait until I'm completely healed or at least have the go ahead from my dr.?

Re: BW after a C-section?

  • First of all, congrats on your new little one! She's precious :)

I had a c-section & was also not allowed to lift anything heavier than LO.  I'm sure you could wrap her up now if you wanted to, but I know that I wasn't supposed to do much at all for 3 weeks. Plus I had a lot of back pain for the first couple of weeks after having him so I wasn't actually up out of bed a whole lot in order to wear DS.  We mostly stayed in bed & nursed for the first few weeks.

I started wearing him at 3 weeks (in my siggy) when I started getting around a little better.  I don't think you'd really need to get clearance from your Dr. unless you tried it & were experiencing pain. GL!

  • I also had a c-section 2 weeks ago. I know it can be hard to ask people for help, but right now that would be the best thing you can do for you and the baby. Take it easy and let your body heal before you jump right back into things. Hold and snuggle your little one as much as you can, but remember to not over do things. One thing my dr has to keep reminding me of is when you start to feel better is when your body has started to heal. You have to be more careful then. Good luck with everything! hang in there and take it easy. You've earned it!

  • I had a c-section, I wore DS the day we got home from the hospital, just tie at your natural waist and stop if it hurts, even a little.

  • Congrats :)

I started wearing my LO in a moby about 8 days after my c/s. That being said, you shouldn't be doing ANYTHING right now but caring for your babe and caring for yourself. :) Try to relax and enjoy it, mama! You have the rest of your life to juggle too many things at once.

  • I waited a month.  But I had complications.  I couldn't keep my but still and was up trying to do things.  That led to 3 days back in the hospital.  :o)  You've been warned!  Don't do anything if it hurts and give yourself time to heal.

  • If you're going to wear your baby, I'd keep it to a mimimum in the first weeks after the c/s.  I wore my baby around for a walk at 5 days postpartum and I felt fine at the time--but I was really sore the next day and my bleeding got a lot heavier, so I'd obviously overdone it.

If you're going to wear your baby in the first weeks, put them down before you start to feel sore or tired.

  • I started wearing LO around 3-4 weeks after my c-section...really when I was ready to get up off the couch and do things.  You really need to take it easy after surgery. There is no reason to do ANYTHING other than feed and clean yourself and your baby for a minimum of two weeks!

  • I started wearing M a week after my c-section.  My grandpa died unexpectedly when she was a week old and we had the funeral and viewing.  I did it mostly because I didn't want people touching her.
  • i had a c/s and wore our baby the day after we got home from the hospital, and pretty much most every day thereafter.
