DD weighs 10 lbs 4 oz now... I use both Huggies and Pampers diapers (the packages say the newborn size is up to 10 lbs)... the newborn size is snug on her but the 1 size is huge... if I switch to the bigger size will I have blowouts and leaks?
The hospital where I delivered uses size 1 and just fold down the top for their stump. We used NB sized at first only because they had been given to us. DD had weight issues and got down as low as 7lbs 5oz and just got over 8 lbs and we've been using size 1 for a few weeks. Only 1 blowout and I think it was in the NB size!

I believe we switched DS around 10-11 lbs. As long as there are no gaps in the leg holes, you should not have any leaks. Usually when the diaper starts leaking, it's because it's too small.

You're more likely to have a blow out when the diaper is too small. I moved up when I started seeing red markings around my son's legs. They looked huge at first just because I saw the difference immediately.
DD was 8 wks before we make the switch (although she's still not quite 10lb), but I noticed that her pees would really fill up the diaper and make it uncomfortable for her--especially at night when she would be in the same diaper for 4-5 hours. We were getting a few blow outs, but nothing crazy.
We switched around 6 weeks. We have had quite a few blowouts because she has skinny legs and it's hard to get a tight seal, but the NB size wasn't containing it anymore either. We're still averaging at least a blow out every other day.
