**IAM4UK**

I have been soooo stressing about food lately for my DD.  I don't know if I'm overthinking it or what.  I've been thinking of adding more table foods and weaning from the purees, but I'm not sure how...sounds crazy I know.  Can you fill me in on what you feed Katie in a typical day and how - like, do you let her feed herself and just cut it up really small?  My DD has no teeth and I just think I'm more afraid of her choking!? Thanks for your help!

Re: **IAM4UK**

  • No problem!! Katie doesn't have any teeth either.

Breakfast- yogurt, waffles, fruit chunks, pancakes, scrambled yolks

Lunch- soup, grilled cheese, pasta, shredded cheese, fruit/veggie chunks, bread

Dinner- whatever we are eating for dinner- wide range

Snacks- puffs, biter biscuts, yogurt melts, dried fruit, cheerios

I cut up everything into small chunks for her. I put some chunks on her tray to learn to feed herself with and everything else stays in her bowl. With slimey fruits I roll them in crushed up cheerios so they have texture which makes them easier to pick up. She gets it into her fist and puts it into her mouth, but doesn't open her fist. She gets the idea, but doesn't have the pincher grasp down yet.

A typical day for us is as follows:

    • 7am- 8 oz. bottle
    • 9am- Breakfast meal (2 mini waffles, fruit chunks)
    • Noon- 4 oz pasta with veggie chunks and shredded cheese
    • 3:30pm- 8 oz. bottle
    • 6:00pm- Dinner- chicken chunks, veggie, potatoes or rice
    • 7pm- 8 oz. bottle

Snacks are in between meals or followed about an hour later as a dessert.

I still do the freezer cube method, I just don't puree anymore. I will make a veggie and cut everything up into chunks and put it into the trays. They still freeze together to form a cube. If they don't, they will freeze in the small chunks and you just pull out what you need. I only do items for her lunch and breakfast. It makes it easier for preparation.

I was most terrified with the meats. I had no idea how she would chew to get it down. I just make sure to cut small or to shred and somehow she does it. She has had hamburger, turkey burger, meatloaf, turkey, chicken breasts with all types of seasoning, etc. I never had a problem with her choking.

I hope this helps- let me know if you have any questions.
