where does LO get their sippy cup?

For those who have started using sippy cups, where do you give the sippy cup? In the high chair, sitting up in lap, or sitting up by themselves? thanks

A family friend is making us our highchair and was having problems with figuring out the mechanisms of it so we STILL don't have a high chair... so he drinks his sippy sitting on his own on the floor or in his infant to toddler rocking chair with his feet crossed, lol

I usually give it to her with/after a meal, depending on when she signs for it.

We just started working with the sippy with DS. He hasn't figured out how to suck on it yet, so we have to take the valve out, and since he just wants to turn it upside down when he gets it for himself, we do the tipping for him still too. Right now he pretty much only gets sips from his cup in his highchair. Since we just started working with the cup, DS doesn't know the sign for it yet, but we've started using it. Too soon for him to have picked it up.
