Re: flying tips?

  • Babywearing rules, definitely! Depending on where you are going and what you are doing you may or may not want to bring a stroller. We went to ME a couple of weeks ago and didn't bother with the stroller since we knew there was a bunch of snow. You can check the stroller and car seat for free. My DD is 9 months and still in her infant car seat. We just get a plastic bag at the check-in and gate check it since we don't want to take the chance of having it get lost and then not have a car seat at our destination. Pack aqnd extra outfit in your carry-on. I always bring a days worth of diapers in my carry-on just in case of delays. Bring some toys. Have LO suck on paci/finger on take off and landing or nurse if you BF. If asleep don't worry about it. My DD fell asleep while nursing before landing and did fine (that's even with an ear infection that was diagnosed before we left). Change her dipe right before going on the plane, not all planes have a changing table (the smaller ones are just too small). Don't worry you will be fine. We have flown a bunch with DD and haven't had any problems so far. I suspect it will probably get harder as she gets older and mobile though!

  • 1) if you are going to have her lap baby, buy the car seat cover.  They get pretty banged up.

    2) small, individually wrapped snacks - variety is the spice of life.

    3) small, never before played with toys that she gets one at a time.

    4) a light weight book or two.

    5) alternate the munchies, toys and books.

    6) bring TWO changes in clothing.  I am not lying when I tell you that EVERY flight I have been on since I have had Monkey, some poor baby has puked or blown out...and some more than once.

    7) bring a new top for you too.

  • I flew quite a bit when my older DD was little, and I've flown once with my current LO.

-I've never bought the carseat bag, and always checked it. I've never had an issue.

    - They did bend a wheel on a stroller once that was gate checked (they gave me $100)

    - Get some NEW toys she has never seen before, extra clothes for her

-They aren't supposed to let you wear your baby on takeoff/landing, but I was able to get away w/ keeping her in the moby a few times, other times I had to take her out, which was a pain.

  • I don't have any tips, but I'm really glad you asked this because we're flying in a couple weeks with my 2 month old and I'm super nervous!  Thanks for all the tips ladies!
