Hi fellow dancers! I just found out I'm pregnant AND just started rehersals for a new show with my ballet company (semi-professional) and we open in June (I'll be 22 weeks!) I know everyone's body is different.. but I am very nervous as to whether I should tell my artistic director I'm pregnant or not. (I am currently only 5 weeks).. If I tell them, I most certainly be 'released' from the show (due to insurance reasons, etc..), but I'm hoping to 'hide it'. Can you still hide it at 22 weeks? Will you definitely be showing by then? Or should I wait until my 8-week Dr. appt and then announce it to the company? I am really in a bind with this issue, as I REALLY had wanted to perform in June (before I 'lose' my ballet figure and don't have time to train/perform as much) but if they need to replace me (I'm in the corps) perhaps I should just suck it up and tell them now. Any personal stories or advice would be soooo appreciated! Thank you!!!

I danced up until the day I gave birth, but I was showing at 22 weeks and would not have performed. Not to mention, I would have been exhausted by the time I was finished.
I would wait to tell them until after your 8 week appointment, maybe even a bit longer if your part has an understudy.
