Bugaboo Frog?

Hi ladies,

I am usually a lurker but had a question I'm hoping you can help with. The frog is being discontinued, but that means it is really on sale at all of the stores by us. It is half the cost of the cameleon model and I think I like it just as much. But, before I make such a big purchase, wanted to see what you think of it.

Do you have the frog, and if so, what do you like/dislike about it? Is it worth it?

 Thank you!

Re: Bugaboo Frog?

  • I have a Frog and it is fabulous.  My sister in law, who had her baby just 5 months before mine, gave me her practically brand new one because it was just too big for their NYC apt to store.  I also have a City Mini.  I love both for different reasons- and keep the Frog at home for walks, and the CM in car for out shopping since it folds more compact, etc...  The ride on the Frog is unbelievable- you do not feel bumps and it goes over cracks and curbs effortlessly.  I love how baby can face me or outwards and they different positions you can tilt the seat in.  It is a great stroller- so grab it if you can.

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i live in NYC (originally from Toronto). Needed something good in snow, good for walking, able to hold a lot of groceries and comfy for my little one. it does all of that. I use it around the neighbourhood for grocery shopping and long walks. If I drive anywhere, take the subway, bus or taxi, I bought a maclaren for that. Any of my friends who live in the suburbs, didn't like theirs. Found it more difficult with in and out of car and don't really walk to buy groceries or need all the room under.

So basically, awesome in the city, snow and fitting a lot under. Would but it again in an instant.

  • I wanted the Frog, but my sister, who manages a baby store, recommended against it because of the fact that replacement parts will not be available since it's being discontinued. I got the Chameleon for that reason. My sister said that she loved the Frog and she's surprised they are discontinuing it since it's such a great stroller.

  • Thanks for all the feedback -- since we are city dwellers looks like it will be a good fit after all. We tried it out in store and I love the feel of it so much more than the Uppa Baby Vista or the joggers were also tried out.

As for replacement parts -- the only part we were really concerned about were the wheels, as the cameleon has much better wheels than the air-filled frog ones which do wear out over time. We went to the store and they showed us that the cameleon wheels fit on the frog no problem -- we even got to try it out. They said the two models are so similar that most parts will work on one or the other. Plus, you will be able to get the frog parts from bugaboo for two years (they are still warrantying them for that long) and on ebay, etc... So, in case others were concerned, that is what we found out today. We feel a tad apprehensive but pretty good about that.

We are going for the "sand" (our only other choice was red if we didn't want to spend over $600). Hope we like it, as we haven't seen the fabric in person yet!

  • Oh and I should add that $600 is probably not a "steal" for Americans, but baby stuff is sooo much more expensive here that this actually saves bundles of money and makes it less than half of what the cameleon costs.
  • BabyGearExpo.com had it for $529, no tax and free shipping...maybe you can order from there?

    Thanks!

  • We love ours, it is my favorite item of baby gear.  For some reason I had to call Buagaboo and I asked them, they said they have to carry parts on them for at least another 2 years because that is how long the warranty is.  I would imagine you could probably even find them after that time period too.

We have had ours for almost 2 years and not had one problem with it.

Go for it!!!  Such great prices out there!!!!
