Sweet Potato Fries

I normally boil my sweet potato then mash it. I was thinking about making fries for LO since she is doing really well at grabbing. Should I just bake them, or boil them then bake them?

Also, how long to bake and at what temperature?

Re: Sweet Potato Fries

  • I just toss them lightly in oil, and bake at 300 for about 20 mins.  Then I toss in a little cinnamon, but that part is optional!!

  • I cut it in fries spray with oil and then roast for about 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

  • Ive roasted them like PPs, but I have also sprinkled water and cinnamon on them and microwave steamed for two minutes or so. They don't get that nice skin of course, but it's super quick.

  • I usually bake at 400 for about 20 or so.  If you want a crispier skin, you need to make sure you don't spray too much oil.  I don't make them too crispy for DS even though he is pretty good at eating.

I'd also suggest butternut squash.  I spray with olive oil, then sprinkle a little thyme and toss lightly.  Then I bake at 400 for about 20 min.  I let them cool so that it gets firm again.  DS loves them and it's a good addition of vegetable.
