accidents happen, but this woman didn't seem to know how many children she was even watching at the time! I know this is an in home daycare (so it's a bit different), but when I worked in a center we had cribs on wheels and during a fire drill you were to put four in a crib and get out... I don't see how she left some of them in the building, I would have gone back in no matter what.
Honestly, I can't even read the whole article - I started getting teary and nauseous. How incredibly sad and scary. Why is a 22 yo girl solely responsible for 7 children? How would you possibly move them in an emergency? Its so sad! There are so many things wrong with that story

This exactly! I cried for those poor children. Um, she was in the bathroom! for how long? Those poor babies and their family, they trusted this woman with the care and lives of their children and this will be something they will never get over.
I saw this last night and started to cry. I'm confused as to how she didn't know how many children she had and also she was licensed to have more than 6 kids in her care a time. I just can't see how one person could care for 7 children in that age range. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the children and also the first responders.
While it's obvious the young woman never intended for any children to be hurt under her care, it's shady that she was advised that she didn't have a fire extinguisher or smoke detector, and that she was only licensed to have 6 kids on the premises and thought she had 9. Daycares have limits on the number of kids a caretaker can watch for a reason! She'll probably be haunted by these deaths for the rest of her life, and I can't imagine what the parents are going through.

Many prayers for all people involved.
