MoM check-in...I'll start it this week

How are you guys hanging in there?  I'm suddenly huge!

I saw flutepharm's update...glad everything is going well.

I have 2 appointments next week (one with the regular OB, one with the MFM).  What will they start doing at this point?  Also, I was told early on that due to my fibroid blocking the birth canal I would have to have a c-section.  When do these usually get scheduled?

Hope everything is going well.

Re: MoM check-in...I'll start it this week

  • Good morning!  I have zero answers to your questions... my OB is still letting me believe that I have a high chance to deliever naturally just hoping that Baby A turns a bit more.  Both babies are still pretty transverse - Baby B has found a nice spot for her head in my ribs.  From the few talks we've had about the posibitlity of a C-Section my OB makes it sound like a decision we will make farther on depending on how well the girls are growing.

On Wednesday I was feeling a lot of pressure so they had me come in for a check up and both babies look like they are doing great, I just got a serious talk about me trying to do too much and have been put on bed rest in the evenings when I get home from work.  I go back for a regular appointment next week and hopefully my doctor will stick to the original plan of letting me work until Spring Break (3rd week in March), but we shall see.

I can still feel the babies move (and they move a lot) but their kicks don't seem to be as strong or hard as they were a few weeks ago.  I am assuming they are just running out of stretching room and this is normal since they said they looked great on Wednesday.  Anyone else having less "strong" movements?

  • I have had the flu for the last week and I am just getting around to feeling like my self again. I have an appointment next week with on OB and we are going to talk about my GD results and I guess a game plan on what it means. I have had zero problems with my fibroid since the big eposide in December and I am hoping it stays this way. I have really started to hate having to walk around, my hips have started to freaking crack.

  • I feel huge as well.  But my OB just told me I need to pack on some pounds in the next couple of weeks.

I had a growth u/s yesterday and there is about a 1 pound difference between the boys.  There are no signs of TTTS or anything else really.  Both boys are developmentally the same in terms of bone structure, brain, heart, etc.  I'm waiting to hear from my nurse about a targeted u/s next week to make sure there isn't something going on.  I may have a fat twin and skinny twin on my hands???

Also, I start weekly visits next week that include growth u/s and NSTs.

I haven't scheduled my C/S yet either.  I know I'll be having one and my OB said it would likely be between 37 and 38 weeks, but no definite date.

Oh - and I have my maternity photos this weekend, so I'm excited about that!

  • Hi ladies! I had an OB appt on Weds and my belly measured at 41 weeks--holy cow! I feel like a beached whale...

Had a growth scan and both girls look good. Baby A weighs in at 2lb6oz and Baby B at 2lb9oz. Cervix is still holding strong, despite my 4-8 contractions an hour. It's looking like I will be pulled from work soon to see if the contrax slow down.

As far as scheduling c-sections, I am really not sure. My Dr said he won't let me go past April 29th (I'm due May 15th), but I don't know if that is my official date, or if it is just a wait and see thing.

Are you ladies having a ton of hip pain? Mine is almost unbearable. That and the fact that it feels like my stomach is literally splitting down the middle really makes me cranky. My body is not liking all of these changes, and they seem to be happening so fast! I am thrilled to be having twins, but sometimes the physical aspect of it really sucks. Sad

  • The boys are doing wonderful, couldn't ask for anything better :) Me, not so much. I got sick last night (not sure if it was from dinner or if I caught some kind of bug) but I had horrible diarrhea last night (so sorry about the TMI). My pressures were on the high side yesterday and after getting sick, they dropped into the teens almost instantly. So that was fun; every time I'd get up, I'd get dizzy and see spots. And the headache was horrible! They gave me some Tylenol (which didn't help) and eventually some Compazine (which helped). So it was a rough night.

They wanted to do another blood draw this morning (since I wasn't feeling well) and they sent up this new phlebotomist who just could not hit any of my veins, so they had to send up someone else to get the blood. Oh joy. I also hit a REALLY high pressure earlier this morning (182/105!). Freaked me out, so the PCA rechecked it on my other arm and it was back to my new normal (149/86). She said she'd chart the lower pressure, but she was still going to tell the OBs and nurses about the spiked one. But the OBs are happy with things for now, I'm just being watched really closely.

As far as scheduling a C-section, each OB is different. Some will schedule a C-section right away if they know one is needed, others will hold off to reassess the situation closer to your due date. But you're approaching the 30 week mark, so I would ask about it at your appointment.

Yes!  The hip pain is making it difficult to sleep in the bed.  I slept most of last night in the recliner in the living room.

My stomach feels like I've done 10,000 crunches everyday for the past week.  My OB said my muscles are likely stretch to their limit and may tear soon Sad

Yours don't share a placenta, right?  Maybe one is just going to be a small baby and one will be a big guy.

YES.  I have had the "riding a horse" feeling for a while now.  Every time I sit or lie down for a while and then try to walk I have to limp for the first few steps and I have trouble picking up and putting down my left leg.  My doctor suggested a pregnancy support belt and if it gets too severe possibly physical therapy.  It's terrible when I roll over in bed at night.

  • How are your babies positioned right now?

Both of mine are breech and have been that way for the past 2-3 weeks or so.  Their heads are kind of near each other right under the middle of my abs. Both are abusing my cervix and fibroid with their kicks!

Mine tore a few weeks ago, and it freaking sucked. It happened slowly, over several days, which I think made it worse. The pain is actually a bit better now that the tearing is over with. But I will cross my fingers that you get lucky and don't tear!

  • I am trying to hang in there and as you previously mentioned in your post, I too popped big-time (I didn't think it would happen this fast).  I have no real updates except that my acid reflux is kicking in mostly after 1 am and keeping me awake.

My biggest concern is preparing for maternity leave (at my work, they haven't dealt with this a lot) so I'm trying to create a maternity leave plan (who will cover my duties while I'm gone etc.) and then obviously prepare for my return.  Anyone have any suggestions on a clean transition?

Lol at "riding a horse" feeling.

I got a support belt, but didn't notice a real difference. The one I got is just kind of like a sleeve. I wonder if I should invest in one of those torture devices with straps. It's going to take something really heavy duty to hold this belly up...

The entire pregnancy, Baby A has been breech and Baby B has been transverse. But at my scan yesterday, Baby A was head down for the first time ever (I knew her kicks felt different recently) and Baby B started the scan in breech position, but flipped back to transverse by the end. Those breech cervix kicks are killer! Hopefully your babies will flip soon.

  • Hip pain? Not so much, since I'm on bedrest and don't move around so much. But I definitely feel tons of pressure, probably because Baby B is the presenting twin and he's really low on my cervix (which is holding up well).

As far as how huge I feel, OMG, it's terrible! The boys still move around, not as much as a few weeks ago, but it actually hurts when they move now since there's literally no room for them. I'm all belly and I just don't see how there's enough room for the two of them and my organs!

Both boys are head down and they keep jostling each other trying to be closest to the exit. I think they're ready to leave and are even trying to escape through my stomach, ribs, etc. Right now, Baby B is lower, but that changes. They've both been head down since 20 weeks, so that hasn't changed since.

  • I hit 27 weeks today!  I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is flying by.  Things are going well.  Davy's chroid plexus cysts were gone on my last ultrasound and my quad screen came back normal so his chance of having Trisomy 18 is very very low.  So all in all things are going well and I'm eating pizza for breakfast!

I've been doing this for a while in case I get pulled from work early (which my doctor said was likely).  Two people will split my normal duties while I'm out, so as I work on things I've been sending them step-by-step emails and copying my boss on them.  I've also thought of the projects I handle in the Spring and Summer (that are annual projects) and have given them instructions on how to handle them when they come up.

Nope - two seperate placentas.  I'm hoping that one is just going to be an itty-bitty and the other a big guy.  My dr said that's highly likely as well.  Another dr in his group delivered twins that were about 2 pounds different on Monday and the both went home yesterday.

Baby A is head down.  Baby B is side to side on top of him (transverse??).  Baby B has his head tucked in my rib cage and his feet toward my back.  Let's just say that even though he's the smaller one, he hurts a lot more when he moves.

I wish I could give you an answer.  I'm a teacher and I've been preparing my lessons for the remainder of the year.  Luckily my boss knows that I could have to leave at a moment's notice and she's told me not to stress about it.

  • My girls are still doing well.  Like flutepharm's, they are both head down and fighting to be the first to escape.  My OB said yesterday that I was measuring 34 weeks -- nothing compared to some of you!  (I can't decide whether I am jealous...) My girls are pretty small like me though (not a problem yet).

After reading some of your posts, I suspect that my ab muscles may be ripping.  The Bump is so helpful!

Haha, don't be jealous. You will catch up in a few weeks and see that it is neither glorious nor exciting, haha. I honestly can't imagine how huge we are all going to be in 6-8 weeks! At least we can suffer together, right?

  • I'm doing well - getting bigger by the day! My Dr. called me skinny yesterday, but I think she's just being nice - I've gained 40 pounds so far, and she's telling me I've got another 20 to go (egads).

Mr. Bryce and Ms. Quinn (we finally settled on names) are doing well. They are moving all the time, but the feeling is less intense for me, too - I agree, I think it's just getting cramped in there. I feel bad for DH. I feel them all the time, but everyting he lays a hand on my belly, they get quiet again. But, he has seen my belly morph as they roll over or move around - very freaky.

We have our c-section date - May 6 is the grand debut (now, I just have to work as hard as I can to keep them in there until then). My doctor scheduled mine as soon as she knew her May hospital schedule - maybe ask your Dr. the next time you see him/her?

Took my 1-hour glucose test yesterday, and am crossing fingers for a passing grade. My OB thinks I'll be okay as all my other results are so good to-date. I go in for another growth scan on Monday at the perinatal's office, so I'll get an update on weight and heartbeat, as well as see how Quinn's right kidney is doing (it's been enlarged the past few scans, but isn't anything that any of the doctors are too concerned with right now).

As for the hip pain - I'm feeling you. But, mine's mostly my pelvis area. I constantly feel like I've been hit by a baseball bat and am sore all the time - sometimes it's hard to walk without limping. Unfortunately, not too much I can do but rest with my feet up as much as I can. I'm 5'3" and my OB says it will probably get worse as there's only so much space for them to grow - ugh.
