We have a few more years left in the Army.. But DH is DONE with a capital D.. And honestly I am too.. We're ready to get out and live a 'normal' life.

That being said..

I'm worried about losing our Tricare. Does anyone know if Tricare gives you a grace period or if you lose it as soon as DH is out?

What about the GI bill.. do you keep all your benifits with that? Or how does it work? Any information/advice would be a huuugeee help..

No Tricare benefits, his end date is also the date that your coverage ends. I believe there is a short plan that you can purchase during that time of transition, but its for 3 months at a time and can only be used for like 6 months (I read this on a website and could have the numbers all wrong).

As for the GI bill, that runs through the VA, not DoD.

I believe he will keep his GI Bill after he has seperated. He will receive 3 yrs of GI Bill so use them wisely (full time student vs part time student). Check out the VA website for additional information. If he deployed he could receive additional benefits to assist with going to school.
