So Eli falls asleep no problem in his own bed but constantly gets up in the night and comes in to our bed. I recenly started putting our big, heavy tied fleece balnket on him at night since it has been cold, and guess what, he stays in his own bed.
I did some research about weihted blankets and for kids that have "high energy" it really helps them calm and sleep. Eli has some sensory issues and likes touching and pressure so the weight seems to curb that for him.
Obviously he cant sleep under a huge double fleece blanket come summer I need to come up with an idea for a heavy blanket for then. I dont want to buy one cause they are expensive, maybe i could make something?
anyone?
Re: another S/O of sleep, weighted blankets
Lots of the kids I teach use weighted blankets (I might like one myself, I think...), and several have made their own. There are patterns available on the web.
Here's one:

Fu's link looked promising...
I just wanted to chime in and say I thought this was very interesting because I am one of those people that has to have a blanket, preferably a heavy one, on me to sleep. I hate just sleeping with a sheet, I can't get comfy. I never put much thought into it, but I am a million miles a minute person and maybe that sensory input from the blanket is calming? Guess I learned something today!
My tips: In the summer I have a/c in my bedroom to keep it extra cool so I can have a blanket on me. I've also had luck layering knit blankets to get weight without too much heat. Matelasse Blankets are also heavy but not too hot, I love mine. This is a link to a pricey one [best pic I could find], I got one for cheap at TJ Maxx: https://www.garnethill.com/garnet-hill-tumbled-swirl-cotton-matelasse-coverlet/170541?listIndex=1&cm_mmc=Shopping_Comparison-_-GoogleBaseHome-_-HOME%20%3E%20BEDDING%20%3E%20TOP%20OF%20BED%20%3E%20COVERLETS%20AND%20SHAMS-_-23215&SourceCode=K1W25B
