1-2 week old sleeping

How much is your 1-2 week old sleeping? Noah is 10 days old and for the past two days he's only been awake 4 hours in a 24 hour period. When he's awake, he's very alert but the kid seriously sleeps all the time. DD never slept so much. Just doesn't seem right.

Thanks:)

Re: 1-2 week old sleeping

  • That's actually just perfect!!! My 10 week old is only awake for about 6 hrs in 24 hrs.

See my siggy links to posts I wrote for sleep help. You'll find a guideline of how long babies should be awake between naps. For a 2 week old, the total awake time between naps is about 45 minutes (which includes eating, diapering, and falling back asleep).

  • Isabella sleeps a lot too. I think she is only awake about 4 hours as well. And she is also 10 days old. Don't remember if any of my 3 DSs slept as much or not though.

  • All my boy does is eat and sleep.  He's awake only when it's feeding time.  That is when we get our cuddling in.  Infants are supposed to sleep like crazy...no worries!
  • My girl is awake a couple of hours in the morning and evening during her cluster feeds but otherwise isn't awake long between naps - change her diaper, feed her and she passes back out.

  • Ours is sleeping most the day then decides to be up half the night!

  • My DS has been STTN for the past few days, between 5-7 hours.  He is up more frequently during the day, he totals usually around 13-14 hours of sleep per day, but he also has some reflux issues and that wakes him up a lot and shortens his nap times because he wakes up spitting up and gets very cranky, which is understandable.
