I was so sure that I wasn't going to buy any goodmama's since you have to cover them and all and they're fitteds and pockets are easier... BUT my defenses are really starting to wear down... they're just SOO cute, and you can get the used ones for like $10... I'm getting sucked in. lol Now I was planning on trying to get mostly cheaper diapers such as the kawaii diapers, would these be a better choice over the kawaii's even though they're fitteds and need covers?
Re: Goodmama's are wearing me down.
Well, if you want to go with a PUL cover you really only need one or two so it wouldn't be too much of an expense. Or you could let LO go coverless while wearing a fitted and just keep feeling the diaper and change when it feels damp. Usually DS is in a fitted and coverless when at home. Or I'll put fleece pants on him because they are absorbant and would prevent leaks.
Got Swag?
used is fine (get pictures and info). I'd say half my stash is either used or seconds. The other half I bought on clearance or at black friday sales.
My goodmamas are all used. They're okay. I wouldn't use them at all under clothes -- they are crazy bulky. It makes them tough for winter or outdoor use, but if she's home and I can put her just in a diaper or at night in a sleepsack, fine.
Also, I don't know how people use them at all without covers My baby pees through them in a few minutes.
I prefer pockets or even prefolds.
Well, I'm a diaper slut. I have a bit of everything. I do love GMs, but we tend to just use them around the house. For daycare and out and about, it's mostly pockets (and I have a ton of different kinds) and AI2s (mostly GroVia, which are awesome).
I think one of the biggest mistakes cloth newbies make is thinking they have to get everything in "one system." I find that different dipes work well in different situations. Do one of the diaper trials, play around with a few different kinds and see what works well for you.
Don't be like me and buy two dozen Bumgenius pockets only to destash them completely a few months later. :0
