Re: WHY am I not losing WEIGHT????? (Pt2)

Hi everyone

I was so shocked to read that i was NOT eating enough and that's why i was not seeing any changes to my weight.

I decided to change things up a bit.

Breakfast

Oatmeal with Flaxseed, banana and coffee

2 hours later i had a Special K cereal bar

Lunch

Banana and strawberry smoothie

8 oz water

1/2 cup of cottage cheese with flaxseed

1 stick of ww cheese

Hot tea

Dinner

Plan on cooking chicken breast with brown rice and Spinach

Snack- 8 oz or yogurt or hummus with crackers.

I need to find what works for me and stick to that!

Thanks for all the information

Re: Re: WHY am I not losing WEIGHT????? (Pt2)

  • Glad you're upping your calories :) Overall your diet today looks fairly good, but I'd see if I could add some more veggies. I'd maybe replace one of your snacks with veggies and hummus (could do carrots, snap peas, sliced peppers, etc), edamame, or a small salad (with a big mix of veggies).

    Great job though!

  • Thank you. I'm trying to do things the RIGHT way and I really want to lose some extra pounds before I get pregnant.

    I HONESTLY LOVE THIS BOARD

  • Question: do i have to eat 2,000 calories or can i stay just below that like say 1600 or 1800?
  • You don't have to eat 2000. You may have to experiment a while to figure out what works for you. I started out tracking my calories on SparkPeople. It originally told me I should aim for between 1300-1600 calories per day, which seemed low to me. I added in my anticipated calories burned and it upped it to between 1600-1900 calories per day. I usually stayed around 1700 (fluctuating somewhat from day to day) and lost 20lbs over 4 months. I now probably eat around 1800-2000 calories per day. But each person really is different based on your resting metabolic rate, activity level, etc.
  • wow 20 pounds in 4 months!  I went to livestrong.com  and said i wanted to lose 2 pounds per week- the calories they allow me are 1068. Yesterday i entered everything i ate and did 63 minutes on the treadmill and had 350 calories left. If you are saying 1300 to 1600 then I must assume its based on your weight and height plus age?

    I'm 34, 5'5 and 162

  • 1068 calories still seems low to me. Do you then eat back what you exercise? Or does that take into account your anticipated exercise?

I think the calories goals do take into account your height, weight, age, etc. but we're fairly close. I'm 5'5", started at 148lbs, and am 37. I also put my goal to lose 1lb per week which upped my calorie goal some. There is just no way I could survive on less than 1500 calories per day.

Good luck with your weight loss, and keep us updated!
