What bottles do you use?

The lactation "specialist" I saw yesterday suggested that I buy Nuk bottles. But I dont really want to buy new bottles if it's really not going to help me get back on track.

To shorttell the story, she thinks his lack of breastfeeding is because the bottle is so easy. But will new bottles really make a difference?

My mom gave birth to my baby brother 6 years ago. Since she had to get an emergency c-section and was in the hospital for 2 weeks, my baby brother was fed formula only while in the hospital. His first month of life he lived off of formula. My mom was able to breastfeed with the help of a lactation consultant at the WIC center. She suggested we feed my baby brother with dixie cups instead of a bottle until he learned how to breastfeed. It was a bit of a struggle at first, but it worked!! My mom was able to breastfeed him which helped him alot since he was a preemie and was very small and had a low-birth weight.

We use the Nuk bottles, but they are the only ones we ever used, so I really can't compare.  They are not expensive bottles - for a few dollars you could just get one to see how your LO does.  Also, DS is over 9 months old and we still use the stage 1 nipples...he never seemed to need larger ones, and I was told to use the earliest stage possible so that they have to keep working for it.

If you're having issues you can try.  We used Breastflow and they were definitely harder to get milk out of than the Dr. Brown's.

I have two Breastflow bottles because they are what came with my pump, but she said she was more concerned about them being narrow. Not the difficulty. She said his latch isnt big enough, and using narrow nipples is causing him to not be as effective. Sigh. I dont know why I cant get breastfeeding right.

At first, we just used the Medela bottles and nipples. I have to say that I did notice he would not open his mouth as wide after using those bottles/nipples. Then, we switched to the Tommee Tippee bottles, which have a wide nipple. Since then (knocks on wood), we haven't had trouble switching between bottle and breast.
