i think it will be stressful and i don't even know where to begin looking for daycare. i don't want to miss out on all my babys firsts but love doesn't pay our mortgage! ugh! how do you do it? just thinking about it makes me sad!
I completely understand, when I was on maternity leave I simply dreaded the idea of (what seemed to me) a huge chunk of time where I wasn't with DD. Fast forward to 4 months back at work (2 months home). I enjoy my job, I'm good at it, I like getting dressed in nice clothes (I lived in my jammies on Maternity Leave), and I like seeing that lovely paycheck twice a month. I do however still have occassional days where I wish I could just stay home with her and not have to work.
But when you set up a good daycare/in home care plan it really helps. Do you know other working moms in your area? Ask them what they do/who they use. Do you have family in the area? Do you have any good friends that are stay at home moms? Either of these might be good options to watch you LO.
Sorry this is long, but one more thing: I've also seen my DD roll over for the 1st (2nd, 3rd) time, fed her first baby food (DH video'd), get her first smiles every morning, and always get to do bathtime and rock her to sleep. You'll be surprised at how use to it you'll get. Just make sure to spend good quality time with LO when you're not working. Good luck!
I love working! Not working makes me sad. My DS loves daycare. I suggest asking friends for recommendations on daycare. We found ours through colleagues of my husband.
You will not miss out on all your baby's firsts. I have been with my son for most of his firsts, even though I do work a lot of hours. I think he saves them for me.
I think the anticipation of returning to work is worse than actually going to work. I like my job and I do get some fulfillment from it, so I try to think of that when I get bummed out. I will say that being a full-time mom is super hard work and sometime going to work gives me some relaxation :P
i was in the same boat some four months ago...and i still ride that boat at times (LOL) but really, you gotta remind yourself about the mortgage and the expenses, and the needs you gotta help provide.Thank heavens for the great opportunity for you to earn. hard as it may seem look at the brighter side.
now when your home, try to spend all your free time with LO.
i admit i dunno how i am able o get by, but it gets easier.
My job is not exciting at all however I work for the extra income. Yes we probably could make it on my husband's income if we cut way back but I like having my own income and not having to ask him for money to buy this or that. Plus this allows him to be around other people and will hopefully make for a smoother adjustment (for both of us) when it's time for him to go to school.
I've been back to work since Oct and I still miss my son. At first my husband would drop him off because I didn't want to think about someone else taking care of him. I love to pick him up after work and see that sweet smile. I take him everywhere on the weekends because I want to spend as much time with him as I can. I also have photos of him at work and can call/FB the lady who watches him at any time to check on him.
Your LO will always be on your mind but it does get easier once you start to get back into the swing of things at work.
