what is your DCP's policy on sick kids?

like how sick is too sick?

I know 24 hrs. fever free w/o fever reducer (but I think a lot of parents fudge on this one, I had to explain to the mom of the boys I watch that giving tylenol doesn't make the child better- it simply alleviates the fever as a symptom and doesn't treat the underlying illness) and no vomiting/diarrhea.  But is there any standard on how much snot is too much snot?

Obviously kids get runny noses and sneezes/coughs, I was just wondering how much is too much in terms of a runny nose?  Does it not matter?

What about goopy eyes?

    Well, there's the fever free for 24 hour drug free rule, which I assume some people fudge on, but that kinda shitty IMO. 

    They will send DD home if she vomits once or has more than 2 diarhea BM and then she has to be 24 hours from the last incident before she can go back.

    There's no "rule" on snot, but if they suspect pink eye or something contagious, they will send Ella home and make me get a doctor's note before she can come back.  I've only had to do that once and it was pre-emptively - I was suspicious of her eyes so I just took her in.

    They have to be free of fever, vom, & D for 24 hrs before they can go back. Same w/pinkeye.

    ETA: no rule on snot. If there was, I would basically be home with him every day from November-March.

    Aside from the 24 hour rule, I am pretty sure if it's green they want you to keep them home. Some parents have kids with allergies (which can cause a green runny nose and the goopy eyes sometimes) and in that case they have to provide a note from the Dr. stating it is allergies and not just a cold/virus.

    Just like everyone posted other than the 24 hour rule for V, D & F. I know my DCP doesn't have any snot rules. Heck my child has had a running nose for a good three weeks now. I wish I could keep her home for all the times she comes down with a cold, but I would run out of vacation time.

    This is what I figured.  The older boy has 2 purple eyes from his sinuses being so jammed up- he doesn't know how to blow his nose, he always just inhales- poor kid.

    Oh my goodness, poor kid. Might you suggest some kids saline solution and an aspirator, I love the nose frida we use that and saline solution. He hates it but it really clears him out

    Yeah, no rules on snot at our DCP either.  But DS has RSV right now from the older kids just passing around colds, so I'm a little annoyed at that.  But what can you do?  Sigh.

    That really sucks.  DD has had a runny nose for what seems like ever now, and she's been sleeping a TON, which is not normal.  I would keep her home from school tomorrow, but I have to co-op, so that's really not an option.

    C - have they taken the older boy to the doctor for his eyes?  Ella's had an EI last year and the only sign was her goopy eyes.

    No- mom's thought is that since he won't blow his nose (she asks him to blow and he inhales instead of exhales) that the mucus is building up in his sinuses and coming out his eyes?  

    He took a longer nap than his little bro, which is not the norm, plus he slept more than an hour longer in the morning than he normally does.  

    Right now so many people are avoiding the pedi's office, because there are SO many bugs going around.
