When to POAS?

Hi ladies,

My cycles are around 30 days.  This is the first month I was on Clomid and I ovulated on Day 17.  My RE's nurse told me not to POAS until Day 33.  I think that's crazy since if I'm not KU I will have AF by then as I would expect I would get it around Day 31.  So, I was thinking of POAS on Day 28, but I don't want to do it too early and get a false negative.  When would you suggest I do it?  BTW, my nipples are very sensitive...I'm not sure if it's a side effect from the Clomid (which would seem odd to me since I took it Days 5-9) or if I'm KU???

Thanks in advance for any advice and as always, best of luck to everyone!

I have been stopping myself from doing this exact same thing.  The RE told me that it would be very tempting but to try and hold off for a blood test b/c all of the hormones floating around in my system could give skewed results either way with a urine test.

It has been driving me completely insane.

Are you scheduled for blood work?

I had blood drawn for a progesterone level on Day 22 which was 24.7!  I was very encouraged by this, but again, I don't want to get too excited because even though I clearly ovulated, chances of a BFN are still greater than the chances of a BFP.  My RE has not scheduled any bloodwork to check to pregnancy.  She just wants me to call if a home test is postive.  Is that weird?  Is that not what your REs do?

Did you do a trigger with the clomid? They don't want you POAS with the trigger because if you test too early, the test will be positive from the trigger but you may not really be PG.  I had my IUI on 2/18 and I go in for a beta on 3/4 which is 14DPIUI.  How long is your LP usually?

No, I didn't do a trigger with the Clomid.  Just took Clomid 50mg by itself Days 5-9.  I have no idea how long my LP usually is because I never had a positive OPK until this cycle.

I wonder if a urine HCG 14 DPO would be high enough to trigger a home pregnancy test.  Obviously a serum test would be high enough...

I'll be thinking of you on 03/04!

I was on Clomid days 3 - 7 then a follicle study and trigger shot (HCG 10,000) on day 13.  Started Prometrium on day 17.  Will have blood drawn on Day 32 if AF doesn't show.

I bet I'm a different case b/c I had a trigger shot at day 13 that would affect the results.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Ok, since you had no trigger and aren't going in for bloodwork, I would think you could definitely POAS on 14 DPO. I'm a bad influence but I would probably start on 12DPO bc I am a glutton for punishment!!  If you can wait under day 14 more power to you!

I had the trigger on Saturday and i am currently testing it out of my system. Yesterday, 4 days after trigger, I got a very faint line. I will test again tomorrow, 6 days after trigger, and I am sure it will be gone. Then I usually try to wait until 13 dpIUI, but I suspect I won't make it past 10.
