I saw something very similar at BRU but reviews were terrible. There is a padded one that seems better. I am trying to dump my diaper bag for real, so anything small (and easy for dd) will do.

Thanks for the input!
This fits in my purse. I still use a fairly large purse, though, since there's no way I can fit DD's water bottle, snacks and miscellaneous stuff (toys, etc.) in a small purse.
Lately, we've graduated from the potty seat (in preparation for preschool) so have just been using the stick-on potty liners on the public restroom seats.
We use a fold-up potty seat. I rarely carry a diaper bag anymore since she has been potty trained for a year not, she doesn't really use the seat. It is probably good that you still keep a change of clothes too, just in case of an accident.
We have this https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3135626 but I generally just cover the seat in TP or use a seat cover and hold her while she goes. She is afraid to sit on a regular seat on her own. Holding her is easier than carrying the portable seat, but we have gotten a lot of use out of it.
What about for boys?? The potty chair and ring we have at home has a "lip" or a guard for when he sits down. I want him to pee sitting first and then we can work on the standing...none of these folding ones have that.
I used to carry around a fold up potty seat that sat right onto the normal toilet. Both my kids have hated it. I always have wipes with me so if a seat seems really gross, I will wipe it down before they use it or just do the paper on the seat trick. The kids are so tiny that I don't stress about covering the whole thing, just the small portion that the kids touch near the front.

What say you mommas of boys??
DS insists on standing (he does miss some, I have to clean the floor a lot)...but it makes it easy for public restrooms. I normally just hold him up and he either stands or kneels on the seat and pees. Thankfull he's never had to poop in public because I'm not sure what I'd do at this point.

I hold DD up. I put one arm under her legs and my other arm under her arms.
This. It's so much easier than worrying about the disgusting germs on the seat! I used have the fold up seat when she was first PT but we quickly abandoned it because it was a PITA!
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013!
I don't use anything for my kids & never have. I mean, I check the seat first to make sure there's no drips or anything but....I don't think it's necessary to put anything down. I don't for myself either. You're not putting your privates directly ON the seat, for goodness sakes. We bathe/shower regularly- I think that gets our behinds clean enough- and of course wash our hands a lot!
I carry a travel size of container of wipes to clean the seat and a fold up potty seat because she is so small she would fall in a regular seat and being pg I can't really hold her.
We have disposable toilet seat covers and a folding potty seat. We put down the cover, then the seat, that way I don't have to wipe down the potty seat after she goes every time. We used this method for a week in Disney and it worked really well. There were times when we would just hold her while she sat on the side of the toilet because DH had to run with her to quickly find a bathroom, but she prefers the potty seat.

This. The backs of your legs touch the seat and then nothing touches the backs of your legs except the insides of your pants. And for boys using a potty ring, teach them to point their penis down into the toilet.
promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
I don't use anything, she jsut sits on the potty at home and in public and wash our hands afterward. I'm trying to make my life easier, not more complicated - carrying a potty seat around would not achieve that!
Honestly, people are germophobes these days. We are not doing our toddlers any favors. They need to build up resistance to bacteria. If the seat is not too gross, I just put DD down on it and we wash our hands with soap afterwards. If it is gross looking, I'll get a paper seat cover.
The fold up potty seat (at least the one we have) is ill fitting, flimsy feeling, and DD hated it.
I carry Antibacterial Wet Ones in my purse, and wipe down the toilet seat. DD just sits down on the seat, with me holding onto her, so she won't fall in. :-)

Restaurant and store bathrooms are one thing, but there is no way in heck I would go without a potty seat in NYC's public parks & playgrounds. I try to hold it in myself to avoid using these, but DD can't.
Re: If your LO is PT: what do you carry in public restrooms?
I have one of these, by Primo. It has been doing the trick for about 9 months now. Very lightweight and easy to use.

My DD is not potty trained yet but if needed I plan on getting this one

or maybe something like this

I had been using the Potette Plus travel potty (which folds out to be free-standing or can just go over a big potty).

I don't bring anything extra. She just sits on the regular toilet.

I wipe the entire seat down with an antibacterial Wet One, and then put the seat on it and go.
It took me a LONG time to get down to that minimal amount of preparation though.

Sooo much easier, I've found.
