...did anyone ever specify the purpose of one?

The purpose is that when you go into labor you text or email your labor buddy and they let all of us on the board know. You keep them updated and they keep the board updated.

Yes, in several previous posts it was explained.

A labor buddy is someone that you feel comfortable communicating with off the board (maybe emails/text messages?) They can be a source of encouragement for you above and beyond the board OR sometimes they can just be a person for you to send updates to when you go into labor so they can keep us updated on the April board.

Hi! I think I opened the labor buddy "can of worms" yesterday. I had noticed that YesThisIsKim was keeping us updated on Nadine since she was her "labor buddy" so I asked what exactly that meant. Apparently it's just someone you met on the The Bump with a due date not too close to yours who you can be in touch with when its time to have the baby, and they can keep the rest of us updated.
