Crazy Afternoon Ends with Good News

DH was supposed to meet me at the doctors office for my first ultrasound yesterday but was delayed because he encountered a police shooting. I was on the train and got a text from him to call immediately. He said that just a few feet in front of him, he saw someone pull out a gun and start shooting into a car. He ran around the corner but within a minute, the whole block was blocked off and covered with police officers. It was all over the news in Chicago last night.

Needless to say, we were both a little shaken up. The doctor's office was running about an hour behind so he got there in plenty of time anyway. The good news is we saw the heartbeat and the baby was measuring at exactly the right size for seven weeks. Hooray!

We were both so exausted from the drama that we crashed at 7:30 when we got home.

I saw that aftermath of that on my way home from work last night- crazy that your H was right there!

So, since you're another Chicagoan, are you delivering at Prentice? I'm pretty sure that's where we'll end up going (my current OB is connected with that practice), but I'm still trying to keep my options open.

My OB is with the Women's Group of Northwestern, so I'm pretty sure I'll deliever there. We have our first appointment with her next week and hopefully, we'll discuss some of the details, then.

Geez, that is a pretty crazy story. I would have been freaked out too. I'm glad he was able to make it to the appt. though, and that everything went well!
