What are your favorite maternity pieces?

I need to get some more maternity clothes, and wanted to get some inspiration from what you ladies like first hand...  especially since I do most of my maternity shopping online and don't have the opportunity to try stuff on.  Also, where are you finding the best fitting stuff?  Old Navy and Gap have been my go-to places, but it's pretty random how things fit.

So what are your essentials?  TIA!

Re: What are your favorite maternity pieces?

  • i like shopping at old navy because they are cheap for something im only wearing a couple more months and i just stick with basic shirts for work i have 2 work pants i bought from motherhood. All my weekend attire has consisted of my DH's shirts and my sweatpants. nothing to extensive

  • I've been living in my jeans from Pea in the Pod, and also jersey empire dresses and flowy tops I bought at Forever 21.  I'm also a huge fan of leggings!!

  • I don't have a lot of maternity pieces (one pair of jeans, one pair of work pants, and two tops).  I usually just wear my mat pants with my regular shirts, although I do love my leggings and flowy tops.  I bought this top the other day from Motherhood to wear with leggings for a banquet supper, but will work for work too.  It's super comfy.  My favorite so far.  And it has pockets!!

  • I got this shirt for Christmas, and I loved it so much I bought 2 more:

It's nothing particularly exciting, just a basic t-shirt, but it's really long and fits really well.

  • I had a lot of luck at Kohls, but that was back on Black Friday. I've also had luck with Old Navy online.

PP - love that shirt of MM! Super cute!

  • everytime I went to shop for maternity wear I came up with nothing I liked. And those that I liked was just too much for me to spend but through family and friends I got a lot of clothes passed on to me which is great and I love most of it. I really like some of the tank tops and the jeans with the full tummy cover have become my favorite thing to wear

  • For winter, I've been living in leggings with tunics, boyfriend cardigans and some pre-PG dresses that work. I've picked up several items from Old Navy and Motherhood for spring, focusing on basics like Ts and tanks and a few dresses/skirts. I work from home, so I definitely don't need as many maternity clothes as the average gal. I'm focusing mostly on comfy spring/summer casual wear.

  • I swear by Motherhood Maternity/Pea in the Pod Secret Fit Belly pants.. they fit by far the best.

For my shirts, I like Old Navy and Gap.

Kohls I haven't been too much of a fan as their in-store selection for me is crappy and their on-line is minimal.

    Good Luck

  • I have been extremely happy with the (dressy) tops I have ordered from JCP.com.  I haven't had such great luck with Old Navy for some reason -- it seems as if their size S is too small for me and M is too big!  I just cant win.  They have some really cute mat dresses though, which would be perfect for summer!

  • I got a denim skirt at Pea in the Pod that I LOVE.  I can wear it with tights and boots now, and it will work with sandals in the spring.  I wear it to work and for casual.

Everything else I get comes from The Gap.  They carry maternity in my mall and I've bought a ton of stuff on clearance because I can stop in all the time.

  • I recently went into Wet Seal (not maternity obviously) and bought 10 different stretchy tshirts and tanks to put under, they have a 5 for $20 sale and they will fit for a while still. I can also wear them PP. They have a bunch of colors and they are longer so they fit great and show off my bump!

This is pretty much my wardrobe, except I have a couple pairs of maternity jeans that I wear with my longer t-shirts that still fit.

A Pea in the Pod Secret Fit Belly 5-pocket Courderoy Pants (currently ON SALE plus an extra 15% off!!!) are by far my favorite pants!  I have them in black, brown, and Cement.  Just a word of caution, I'm 5'4" and wear flats every day and these fit perfectly, length-wise.  If you are tall or wear heels, they may be too short for you.

I like Old Navy Maternity most for shirts because they fit perfectly in my pre-pregnancy size although they are more roomy in the armpits and are longer in the front, which is awesome AND because they are very inexpensive for this very short time in my life.  :)

  • The Heidi Klum skinny faded black jeans from Motherhood Maternity are my hands down favorite.  The waist lining is a super soft flannel material and they don't get stretched out the first time they are worn after being washed which is key.
