The insanity of the last 3 days

DH and I completely jinxed poor DS.  We were going through some stored boxes on Sunday and found a goofy contract we had signed years before we got pregnant.   It said I would deal with all vomit issues and DH would deal with all diaper blow outs.  So stupid me says "We have been really lucky  that DS has never had a puke problem since you are a SAHD." 

So, as you probably guessed, DS wakes up vomitting at 5:00am on Monday.  The poor baby threw up 12 times on Monday, diarrhea Tuesday morning, 10 hours of no wet diaper, more vomitting starting at 4:00pm, a ton of listlessness, etc.  We were in constant contact with the doctor, they actually had us syringe feeding him Gatorade mixed with water.  That started okay but then he freaked out and we had to pin him down or take him to the ER, pinning him was a nightmare.  Just as we were about to take him to the ER, he finally had a wet diaper (almost 12 hours without one).  Today he was extremely listless, almost to the point of no communication, he couldn't sit up on his own and wouldn't stand.  We took him to the doctor who said he was just weak from not keeping anything in him but he was suprisingly well hydrated.  It is a stomach flu they have seen a lot of.  He didn't vomit at all today and right around 7:00pm he snapped out of his stupor.  He woke up from a nap, started talking, took interest in things going on, sat on his own, giggled with DH, etc.  It lasted almost a half an hour before he wanted to go to bed. 

Part of our problem has been DS' lack of eating.  He only eats yogurt so he hasn't been allowed to have any since Sunday.  Thank god I still nurse.  The first night after vomiting the doctor said no nursing (he kept throwing it up) and strictly water and gatorade to try and keep him hydrated.  The second night was the opposite, let him nurse as much as possible, even if he throws up he will still get a little nutrition.  Since he hasn't thrown up today he has been allowed to nurse plenty although he hasn't actually had much.  He hasn't had a wet diaper since 4:00pm.  If he doesn't have one soon or if he throws up again, we have to go to the ER.  :(

This has been a terrifying few days.  Seeing his eyes glaze over, watching him get weaker and weaker, not hearing him talk, has all been just awful.  DH and I both started crying from relief when he randomly started talking tonight.  We are just praying that tonight was not a fluke thing and he is truly on the mend.  To make things even harder, DH and I seem to have a mild form of it and are alternating trips to the bathroom.  I really hope none of you go through this bug, it is miserable.  Thanks for letting me vent.  If you could keep my little many in your thoughts I would appreciate it.
