Went to my full day training today, 30 minutes in I get a text from my sitter to call her. I step out, she answers the phone hysterically saying "he turned blue, he stopped breathing" she says this over and over again. I of course freak completely out, can't get her to calm down enough to tell me if he's breathing now or not....finally she says "he's fine now, but he started coughing and then stopped making noise and turned blue". I run back into training, grab my keys and rush home. I have never driven so fast!
I get home... and no kidding, the kid is sitting on the floor playing with his toys laughing and cooing (with the sitter right next to him). He did the same thing last time he had RSV, however he turned blue 6 times in a row, and projectile vomitted (we went to the ER that time). I seriously hate this stuff!
The good news to all this ... I took PTO for the next week and got out of my 2 day training (for now atleast)!!!!! My sitter (whose a nurse) might not ever put Coop down again though : ) I felt horrible leaving Coop and should have listened to my instincts, but the training was mandatory and now i'll have to pay out of pocket, but my child's well being is way more important.
*I did call our pedi, who said completely normal with RSV and to give him full dose of breathing treatment every 4 hours regardless of how he sounds and warm apple juice (apparently the acidic juic helps breakup the mucous in his throat).
Sorry 1ht
Re: Hello PTO...RSV contines to wreck havoc!
I just want to give you a world as beautiful as you are to me.
The doc said he should start improving any day now, his fever broke about a day and half ago, so that's a good sign. The cough can last several weeks though, so who knows how long until the choking/coughing stops.
He has definetly gotten some extra snuggles today, I love co-napping with my lil guy without any guilt for not doing work.
