Postpartum Depression

PPD at 7 months pp?

Can PPD set in 7 months pp? Lately I am incredibly moody, angry, and just very down. I'm constantly arguing with DH and nothing seems to make me happy, except DS. I don't have any bad feelings towards DS at all, I love him to pieces. Should I talk to a doctor or could this just be a weird phase?

Re: PPD at 7 months pp?

  • Yes it can! With my first son PPD set in at 7 months. For me it started out with the sudden and constant crying that turned into anxiety. I called my ob and we were able to get things set up for treatment. I would definitely look into getting help. Especially if you don't feel like your self, it can make a difference. Things got so much better for me after I sought help. It still took time, but it did help.

  • I did not develop PPD until 10 months pp. I started weaning and it was like a truck hit me.. 3 months later, after being put on Zoloft, I feel TOTALLY like myself again. Call your OB and definitely talk to him or her. It will be ok!! I did not feel like I would ever be not moody or sad again and I am back to my happy self now :)

  • I was diagnosed when DS was nearly 7 months old.  I felt like a truck had hit me - and it had nothing at all to do with DS.  Call your DR.  It can definitely get better - I feel like myself again.

  • I came on here to ask the EXACT same question.  My second son turned 7 months 2 days ago and all of a sudden I feel like I can't get my crap together.  I never felt like this with my first (except the normal first time parent adjustment).  Thanks for the info ladies- I'm calling my doctor right now.

  • I was wondering the same thing! Thank you for posting. I find myself completely unable to get thru a day without unneccesary amounts of anxiety and frustration - most of which is aimed at my 7 month old. At least now I won't feel as apprehensive when I talk to my Dr.
  • you can be diagnosed with PPD up until 18 months after giving birth. definitely call your doctor. for me, it got bad...with PP anxiety once I stopped nursing. feel better this whole PPD, PPA stuff sucks!!!
