GD: Are my levels too low?

I was diagnosed with GD last week and I have been monitoring my blood sugar and just using diet and exercise for the last two days. My doctor told me that he wants my number in the morning before eating to be below 95 and my 1 hour after meals number to be below 120.  So far I have been getting around 68 as my morning number and around 94 for my after meals number.  Should I be concerned that these number are too low or am I just over worrying?

Thanks :)

Re: GD: Are my levels too low?

  • That sounds a lot like my numbers at the beginning.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.  As you progress your numbers will naturally get higher, so be thankful that they are a little lower now.  It will be easier later.  If you are worried about them being too low, eat a few more carbs at each meal, or have a sweet treat after each meal.

  • Those seem pretty close to normal to me. I agree with the other post too...they are likely to go up at some point.

  • I've been told that we'll just have to watch closely. I may have to have my repeat C/S closer to 37 weeks, but if not then we'll proceed as planned at 39 weeks.

  • I was told to call my OB if my number was below 65. Otherwise your numbers seem fine.
