Hi Ladies, 

 

I am new to the bump and I'm 16 weeks pregnant.  I was wondering if any one has any recommendations for an OB in downtown DC, preferably one who is on board with going the natural childbirth route?  I'm not sure as yet just how "natural" I actually want to go, but I get the sense my current OB really pushes c-sections (he suggested an elective c-section at two different appointments in my first trimester) and I don't think that approach is right for me either.  I'm very close to Sibley hospital and would prefer someone with privileges there.

    I used to go to Reiter Hill and they deliver at Sibley.  I saw a few different doctors (Nevin, Loveland) and they were all pleasant.  I just used them for GYN services at the time though.  Not sure where they stand on natural birth.

    i am using Dr. Birnkrant - he's in independent practitioner and I've had a good experience so far. office is on M st. near GW and he has privileges at GW and Sibley. only drawback - you have to pay unfront and then they'll submit to your insurance for you. my insurance is fine with that and reimburses 70%. i called a number of other places and they were all huge practices that felt like factories. i like that i'll have just 1 doctor the whole time.
