I Need A Few Recs (random)

Please recommend your... BSing bedrail (one I can get around smoothly to sneak out of bed after nursing DS to sleep); Baby Wash (tear free, clean rinsing, good smell...does that combo exist?); Summerweight Wrap for a toddler (Vat??); Non-medicated teething remedy (now that we know Belladonna is no good. Sheesh); Acne product for BFing mama; Books for toddlers; CD detergent (have some RG samples coming). OK. Now that I've handed over my entire shopping list to you guys, I'm going to have some Colombian Coffee Chip ice cream and wait for replies Wink

Re: I Need A Few Recs (random)

  • I ordered one of those foam triangle "rails"...can't remember if it was linked here or the CD'ing board?  I think it would be pretty easy to roll/crawl over it.

Baby Wash - we use Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Wash due to eczema, but I think it smells pretty good.

Non-medicated teething remedy - frozen washcloth.  Works better than anything else we've tried.

CD detergent - we use powdered Tide original.

  • Let's see....

Bed rail: We have a Summer mesh rail that I sneak around the end of https://www.toysrus.ca/product/index.jsp?productId=3529261

Baby wash: We have this organic Baby Carrots stuff ( can't remember the exact name) but its great!

    Teething: not there yet

CD Detergent: We use Allens but I'm not 100% happy with it.

  • BSing bedrail: Move the bed to the floor. Ari was scooting around or over them within 2 months.

    Baby Wash: California Baby

Summerweight Wrap for a toddler (Vat??): Vats are too thin for my taste, but I'm in the minority. I prefer an Ellevill Zara. A used Didy DSF (Deep Sea Fish) is very Vat-like in the thin version, & almost all of them on FSOT are thin. I pph the colorway, but didn't care for how thin it was.

Acne product for BFing mama: Give up dairy. Seriously. I did it for Ari, & my lifelong battle with acne ended. I saw a study last week linking it to acne as well. Try it for 2 weeks, see what happens. Mine immediately came back when we did a cheese challenge.

Books for toddlers: Carry Me, Raising an Amazing Child the Montesorri Way (not a toddler book, but Ari & I look at the pics & I describe what's happening. We've done it every night for nearly a year & it never gets old), 1,2,3 Count with Me (Ernie & Elmo), No David, Louis Armstrong Taught Me Scat, Where the Wild Things Are.

CD detergent: RG or Charlies. If you do Charlies, switch all of your laundry or it can cause rashes. We had that problem. But I love, love, love it again now that we switched all laundry over, & it's cheap.

  • Baby Wash: We are using Yes To Baby Carrots and I LOVE it.  Check out the baby lotion too. It has such a nice light & fresh smell. Love. (I bought these both at my local Target, but not all Target's carry it. Walgreens carries it also.)

Teething remedy: Amber teething necklace. We got ours from Inspired By Finn & love it.  E also liked to rub a cool wet washcloth on his gums.

Books: We just bought Little Hands Love and Little Feet Love in Target.  Both E & my 7 year old SS enjoy feeling all the textures in these books.  So they're not really story books, but we make up stories about the textures on each page & then touch our fingers, feet & sometimes cheeks & noses to the page to see what it feels like.

    CD Detergent: We use RnG.

Now that I've made such a nice list for you complete with links, I KNOW you're going to share that Colombian Coffee Chip, right?  RIGHT??? Stick out tongue

  • For baby wash I love Burt's Bees Baby Bee. (SLS, Paraben, Pthalate free!) For Summer Wraps I am in love with Marigold and for the detergent you can't beat RG!

::hands SCB a spoon:: Great Recs, thanks! We have Little Feet Love and he thinks it's the greatest. I'll go get LHL, too. Glad to hear good reviews for RnG. I have a bunch of samples coming & I'm hoping I love them. Gracias! :)

::hides ice cream bowl:: What makes you think I eat dairy? Drat. I gave it up for 3 weeks when we were battling reflux to see if he had a ... ha. I totally blanket on the abbreviation for the soy/milk protein sensitivity. Anyway I guess I could try it again. ::kicks dirt:: harumph. Thanks, WM. Great recs! :)

  • BS Bedrail: Sorry no recs on this

Baby Wash: I LOVE California Baby Calming Shampoo/Bodywash (it smells fantastic and it also makes great bubble baths!)

Summerweight Wrap for Toddler: No recs on this yet (My toddler refused to be wrapped)

Teething Remedy: We used the mesh teethers and would put frozen fruit inside or frozen washclothes

Books for Toddlers: One Hungry Monster, Goodnight Moon, Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones, Polar Bear Polar Bear, How do Dinosaur series

Detergent: How about soapnuts? Just started using them, but we don't CD.. just using for regular baby clothes.

Hmmm. I'll look into soapnuts, thanks. They kind of remind me of Heathers: "Cornnuts!!" (man I hope someone is old enough to catch my reference LOL)

  • we got an extra long bedrail from BRU. but, we stopped using it when benjamin tried climbing OVER it!! yikes! but if you just want it for rolling, fine. we're saving it for when we have a bed for him, but we feel safer at this point w/o it.

aveeno baby wash is what we use and it smells really good. tear free.

just ordered an amber teething necklace to try that option for teething. a cold teething ring helps for about a minute.

    rockin green!!

    i think that's all i got!
