Article: Babies & TV watching

I admit I let DD watch TV from time to time.  This article made me feel pretty guilty.  Everything in moderation, I guess Stick out tongue

  • I've been pretty good about DD not watching TV. I let her watch 19 Kids and Counting one night. She wouldn't fall asleep at 3 a.m. I think she was fascinated by all the big kids on TV. She also liked Alvin & The Chipmunks; she probably could have just listened to the music and had the same response.

Yeah, I thought the same thing...our TV is always on. I'm going to go with better because she doesn't pay much attention to it.  I guess we'll see if our DC become socially inept zombies Wink

Yeah the only time he even acknowledges the TV is when he hears the Law & Order theme song. Something about it just grabs his attention.

  • Yeah, pretty sure I'm the worst at this.  Some mornings I get a little behind in my schedule and the only way to get a few minutes to shower in peace is to turn on PBS for LO and sit him on the floor with some toys.  It definitely entertains him long enough for me to practice some personal hygiene, but I feel guilty every time.

Did you watch Law & Order when you were pregnant? I used to watch the Office every night before bed and DD totally reacts to that theme song, I think she remembers it from the womb!

I've often wondered about this.  I used to watch an average of 2 Supernatural episodes a day when I was pregnant and then once she was born and used to nap on me on the couch.  Now when she sees or hears the main actors she gets excited lol.  My mom said she probably thinks they're her uncles or something.

For the most part, though, unless she's nursing the TV is off.  She absolutely loves it (anything with lights and motion) and will completely ignore me if it's on.

LOL, the same sound gets Snuggle's attention everytime too!  That is too funny!

  • DS looks at the TV with the most concerned face when he hears a baby crying. (Like on Teen Mom 2 or One Born Every Minute)

Other than that, he could really just leave the TV.
