Think we might have picked our full-time daycare provider!

We decided to go with in-home vs. corporate and my husband visited about 10 places and narrowed it down to a few so I didn't have to deal with so many...Most of the corporate ones just don't seem like a fit for an infant to us and most were about $50/day which would be hard for us to swing 5 days a week...

This woman is adorable, kinda crazy, but in a good way. She only takes about 4 kids a day and doesn't have any other infants right now.....and we'll be the only full time kid...the others only come about 2-3 days a week. This was a turn on to me cause most of the other places in Mass can have 6 kids for 1 person. She also has a housetrained bunny that hops around, and fish, and a turtle and even a duck that comes in the house sometimes and his name is Ritz Quackers....how adorable is that? I'm sure it would be a turn-off for lots of families, but is right up our alley.

If we decided to keep the baby there, when he/she gets older, she is very in line with our teaching plans....she uses more music/art, etc.

So, anyway, for anyone else searching....keep looking and you will find the perfect place for YOU! Like I said before, MH must have called 20 places and visited 10 more before finding this one!

  • this sounds really ideal!  i love the idea of all the animals around for your child to interact with.

the family of the in-home daycare where i leave dd has turned their whole yard into a vegetable garden, so dd is exposed to a lot of gardening and fresh veggies.

  • that sounds great! be sure to check her references from current and former parents, but it sounds like a fun place for the kids and the ratio also seems great. i would also ask her if she plans on taking in more kids in the future.

when i looked at daycare centers while preg with ds#2, i just never liked the set up. it seemed to clinical to me. one of them i went to had one of those tables with the high chairs set into them and there were three kids just sitting there when i went to visit and the "teachers" were just sitting there as well. they weren't even eating. crossed that one of my list...

i've always liked the home daycare set up. for the price, i think it's so worth it, especially when you find one you love

    congrats!
