Stretch marks

I hate that I am even posting this because it makes me seem vain and I know I only gave birth two weeks ago but my stretch marks are so horrible. They werent bad when I was pregnant but I look down and all I see is purple indented lines all over my belly. I can deal with the flabby belly but these stretch marks are killing me. Anyone else feel this way and if so, what are you doing to try to minimize them? Is it working?

Re: Stretch marks

  • I had quite a few after my first. They weren't really wide but they were definitely very purple!!!! They really do fsde with time though. I have given up my 2 piece bathing soon but they really aren't that obvious anymore. I kept using tummy butter to moisturize but time really is what does the trick. Sorry you have to deal with them! Stretch marks are definitely a bummer!

  • Ugh I have them on my hips and thighs (thankfully not on my tummy). The ones on my hips are higher than a low-cut rise on a pair of jeans or a bikini too, which bums me out. I want to be back in a bikini for the summer but I don't know if that will happen. Sad

I keep moisturizing and hoping that will help fade them.

  • Mine faded in 3-4 months after having my previous two children, and by the time I hit 9 mo PP they were silver. (Which is great because I'm super pale, but for anyone who is naturally tan/olive skin toned/african american descent... sucks to be you!)

  • They really do improve with time.  By 6 months pp with DD mine were had all faded, and shrunk up quite a bit.  The texture is still there, but they are not as visible.  I even wore a bikini last summer, and didn't feel that they were too bad.  I got few more this time around, but all the original ones re stretched; so here is to the waiting game again.

I like hearing this since i'm practically transparent. My mom is Israeli and pretty tan so you can see hers. I picked up all the irish genes so hopefully you wont be able to see mine.

  • I'm using some of my Retin-A (actually differin cream but same idea) on it.  Never used it while I was pregnancy bc of very slight but controversial risk of birth defects but now that he's out I feel safe using it.  Supposedly it's supposed to help.  Just a thought.
