Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Those with later losses

Because of how far along I got to (17 weeks) and my build, my hips had already moved, and my rib cage had already spread.  They are never going back to the way they were before.  Because of this clothes fit different and my fat has relocated to different places.  My dr tells me this is just one of the facts of life, exercise will help, but it's never going back.  This just totally stinks, I get all this garbage, but no baby.  I'm feeling rather bitter about all of this today, probably because I tried on several of my winter skirts and none of them fit right.  Did this happen to anyone else?  BTW my hips were so narrow to begin with my dr was talking c-section depending upon the size of the baby, so that may have been part of the problem.

Re: Those with later losses

  • Sorry you are dealing with all this.  I had a stillbirth delivery at 22 weeks, a miscarriage, and another stillbirth delivery at 20 weeks.  My body will never be the same....in so many different ways.  Sad  Clothes definitely fit differently.  {{hugs}}

  • Yes! My pants don't fit the same since I now still have a little belly pouch and my boobs went from a B to a DD when I was pregnant (I don't think they were done growing either.) I'm still between a C and a D. I'm bitter about it too. If I should have stretch marks on my belly, I should have a baby as well. Big hugs to you.
  • oh, I'm sorry. I gained a lot of weight with Clark so it took me a while to fit into my pre-preg clothes, but I eventually got there, about 4 months later (of course I was too lazy to exercise and make it happen faster). I didn't have the problem of my joints spreading and not going back, though. I was able to wear all the same clothes. It could have been because of being so narrow to begin with your body won't go back to being that narrow. I'm sorry you are going through that. I can't say I've had the same experience you did. I hope it will go back to normal for you, but your doctor may be right. Hang in there.

  • I'm so sorry to read of your loss.  I went through a similar situation.  My daugheter was born still at just over 20 weeks.  I had to actually deliver her, and at the point in the pregnancy where my body had changed too.  It didn't go back to where it was, but it was not as bad.  It took me almost 9 months to get pregnant again, and now there is no going back...lol!  I got these new hips that won't go away either.  No matter how much exercise I go, I'm stuck wiht them.  That part sucks, but I'd do it all over again if I had to.  Just something we women have to deal with.  Hopefully you will get back to where you were before your pregnancy.  Some women are lucky that way.  Take care.
  • Kristy - was thinking about making this a PG question on the check-in some week - Physical reminders of our lost pregnancies.  My hips have widned.  I expected that to happen because my mom has always told me I did that to her.  I am covered and I mean covered in stretch marks and my fat has definitely shifted!  It is terribly unfair to have all of the negative side affects and no baby.  I hope you hang in there.  Big hugs to you!

  • I totally know what you mean. I was 19 weeks along. I gained 10 lbs during the pregnancy which I was able to lose, but i feel like i still have a "pooch". Plus, my feet grew 1/2 size which makes my shoes just a "little bit" too tight. I agree... it's mother nature's cruel joke to have these side effects with no baby. Hugs all around!
