Really long list, but I put this together a few weeks ago for a friend and wanted to share of some of my favorite baby items with those who are interested... This is for early on. I am making a list now for fave items for after the first few months.,..
1. Fisher Price Rock N Play Sleeper- a serious lifesaver- did not put Jack in this overnight since I wanted him used to sleeping on back, but the first two months he slept in this downstairs during day all the time. Read the reviews on BRU! I kept Jack in an Arm's Reach bassinet in our room for 6 weeks at night and then moved to crib, but used this everyday in house and it was great to take to friends houses.
2. Aden and Anais Muslin Blankets- Best ever- light and breathable- big for sprawling out. Best blankets I own- come in 4 pack and well worth their weight in gold.
3. Video Monitor- a real lifesaver- I wait until his eyes are open to go in room. I wish I had gotten one with a clock on it (if there is such a thing). It would have made so much sense (you will see what I mean?)
4. The Miracle Blanket- best swaddling thing out there. First night using it, Jack slept 5 hours. Never went more than 2 hours prior. I hated the swaddle me's. He broke out of the velcro too easy.
5. A double electric breastpump- NECESSITY (I have a hospital grade one and a Medela Pump In Style Advanced for work) (FYI- I am an exclusive pumper). Lansinoh bags for freezer. I also love the Medela sterilizing bags- 4.99 for 5- you can use each bag 20 times. If I knew I would have been pumping for almost 9 months I definitely would have bought the Medela Freestyle- it is awesome. I also highly suggest the Simple Wishes pumping bra from Amazon.com- you can pump and be hands free to feed baby, go on internet, whatever. Also, I love the double tiered bottle drying rack for pump stuff and bottles.
6. Any kind of toys that light up.
7. FP Soother for crib- fun music, lights up, etc...
8. A mobile that stays on for more than 2 minutes. I have the Tiny Love Serenade- love the light, motion and how long it stays on. Having the mobile and the FP soother make bedtime fun for Jack.
8. A bouncy seat that actually bounces. A must! Fisher Price Ocean Wonders or Aquarium.
9. Itzbeen timer- made my life so much easier first month. Only used for a month though.
10. Sleepers that zip up- LOVE them. Especially when baby is waking up every 2 hours- such a pain to deal with snaps.
11. Sophie the Giraffe teething toy- AWESOME.
12. Bright Starts or other brand fun colorful clip on toys.
13. A play mat with toys that hang.
14. Extra bag of colorful links. Great for baby to grab. Makes toys hang lower so baby can reach them. Helps in clipping toys to car seat.
15. Halo sleep sacks for when done swaddling.
16. Set up for a first floor changing station- pack n play? I am using a pack n play wiht changing top downstairs.
17. An awesome stroller that is easy to fold and push with one hand. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Baby Jogger City Mini with car seat adaptor. I have a Graco Snugride 22 for car seat. Lightest one. I tested and researched every stroller out there and this one is the best bang for buck. All the others I loved equally were over $600. This one is $229. Go to Buy Buy Baby and test out all strollers than add to Babies R Us registry. For a real jogging stroller, everyone swears by Bob strollers. I also have a Bugaboo Frog (hand me down from SIL) which is amazing and has an unbelievable smooth ride, it is just really big.
18. One of those baby health kits- with nailclipper, nail files, etc...
19. Different types of bottles. We are doing best with the Born Free brand. Love these. 5th type we tried.
20. Sheetsavers for crib. LOVE THESE! I change these every few days since Jack slobbers on them, but I only have to change actual sheets once a month since all that touches his face/skin is the saver.
21. Triple Paste. Best diaper cream out there. Do not waste time trying other types.
22. Hamper- so glad I decided to put a hamper in his room. I was just going to throw his clothes in mine, but it is so convenient having this in his room.
23. Extra washclothes. The 8 pack I registered for was not enough, especially now that he is eating and I have to use one at every meal to wash face- ha ha.
24. California baby calendula cream- great for dry skin, baby acne, everything!
25. Lots of bibs. My favorite for early on were the Tommy Tippee Milk Catching bibs. The best ones now are Bumkins brand. They are far superior to all the other washable ones out there.
