Ditto. I know nothing about childbirth and tonight's episode had me a little freaked out. In a way I feel like I'm learning things when the delivery doesn't go as planned but it's pretty damn frightening!

Yes, I know it's hard, but I try to encourage new moms not to watch those things as it can be scary and doesn't mean it will be your case. Try not to worry.
My sister in-law had to give birth to TWO sunny side up babies which really prolongs labor and pushing. She had the vacuum used on her second and the pushing time was cut down considerably. She is pregnant with her third and seeing a new doctor who said she would manually try and turn this baby if he/she also was face up. My mom also had one sunny side up baby so I am really hoping that it isn't a family thing and that mine comes out face down.
I am really loving this show.. that Natural Livers were my favorite though, hands down.
The show always makes me so scared for a minute, but then a happy bawling mess when everything turns out okay.
It actually makes me calmer about birth I think. Because I keep telling myself, even in some of these crazy panic situations, mama and baby end up okay. I can get through anything if it will get me to that moment where they put her little face on my chest!
The vacuum scene was a bit scary, but try to remember that every labor for every woman is different! If you go into labor thinking about the horror stories you've seen or heard, you will not be in the best mindset. I just kept focusing on the fabulous bundle of joy that would be my reward at the end of all of it with my first pregnancy.
Last night's show actually cracked me up - not the vacuum scene, of course. Mama Rosemary, the woman who seemed to have left her dentures at home, was killing my sides. I think I joined the Pregnancy Pee Club watching this show (I laughed so hard til I peed myself - TMI, but funny!!).
UM, YES -- Mama Rosemary was like a caricature -- who hired that lady? She was so crazy I felt like she was planted in that episode for some humor. I would NOT have been able to keep a straight face if I were the nurse in that room all the time. "You get that baby up on out of you..." REALLY?

The grandmother to-be did not make me laugh, she made me cringe. I thought she was kind of gross.. her language was atrocious and I have not been a fan of any of the family members eating donuts and pizza while in front of a laboring woman. Perhaps the mother to-be did not mind, but I I would be so irritated and hungry.. to go so long without food and here your family is, just chowing down in front of you!
My hormones have overtaken me and I am so not the understanding and nonjudgmental woman I once was.. hopefully that will come back, right?
Re: One born every minute...
I know! The lady who was on her 4th that the vacuum kept slipping off!
I don't think any episode can scare me as much as last weeks though with the shoulder one..
