Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Is there anything I can give my 18 month old for her cough?

DD has a pretty nasty cold, her 18 month check-up is this afternoon so I will talk to her doctor as well but I'm wondering if there is such a thing as baby cough medicine or any sort of natural cough medicine out there.

We got next to no sleep last night and my poor monkey is having a rough nap through her coughing fits.  We have a humidifier running in her room but it's not doing much.  Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Warm water or caffeine free tea with honey was what my pedi said.  Also a cool air humidifier works wonders if she starts to get congested.
  • DD hasn't had honey yet (we just don't eat it) but that seems like an easy fix.  I think I'll talk to her doc and probably get some cough syrup as well for night time if she ok's it.  Thanks for the advice.

  • We do the Little Cold or Noses or whatever Honey Elixir and love it. It's just honey and water, but I am not about to work with honey in the middle of the night.

  • My pedi recommended Delsym (grape flavored). It seemed to help a bit over the summer when he had a cough.
