Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Is your LO still in a high chair?

We're moving into our first house next weekend (whoo hoo!) The dining room is fairly small, and we're ready to ditch the big high chair anyway. It's a pain in the butt to clean.

We have a Seat Saver high chair that we're going to use on one of our chairs, but I'm wondering when we can just forgo the high chair and tray all together and just put him in a booster seat at the table with us. I think he's probably ready for that, or almost.

Is your toddler still in a high chair? If not, what is he/she in?

Re: Is your LO still in a high chair?

  • We use the Space Saver high chair. Sometimes he lets us use it traditionally w/ the tray and sometimes we just scoot it up to the table. I still like the tray for cleaning purposes.

  • Not sure about your seat saver, but ours reverts into a booster. We've been using it that way for about a month now. It works great and doesn't have that annoying cushion. We got rid of that thing WAY early on.

  • E is still in a high chair. It is big enough that she can stay in there for a while. She loves the high chair. We also will bring it into the kitchen while we are cooking so she can watch. We have a toddler booster chair for travelling.
  • Zack has been in a booster seat since 12 months. I got real tired of what a pain it was to clean his highchair, and he liked being at the table better, anyway.

We just have the cheap-o Babies R Us booster, but it does the job and it's easy to clean.

  • DD pretty much told me when she didnt want the high chair anymore. she would climb in our regular seats to eat her snacks and dinner. thats when i switched to the booster seat. now she decides if she wants "her seat" (aka the booster) or a regualr seat (and she'll kneel/sit while eating).

  • We have this:

If DS wants to sit at the table, he can, and it takes up almost no space. Also great for travelling, it folds up and goes! We don't have to worry about the grossness of restaurant highchairs that don't even reach the table. He's always at table height!

  • We still have her in a high chair and at the table. It usually just depends on my patience, energy and Dd's mood on that particular day.

  • We bought DS a booster chair last weekend.  He seems to prefer it to the high chair (less of struggle strapping him in).  The one we got is this: https://www.buybuybaby.com/product.asp?SKU=16571679&

Though we have not used the tray/toys... I think he's past that, overall.

  • We're still using a traditional high chair.  It's Amish-made and oak, so it's not too large and fairly easy to clean.  I don't like putting baby at the table yet, he grabs food from DH's or my plate and makes enormous messes.

  • DS is still in his high chair.. and will be for a long time. His is not hard to clean, and I figure since he doesnt mind being in it why not continue? I like knowing I can put him in it and we wont go anywhere.. We have a tall table set so if he fell it would kind of far for him Sad
  • She has an old school wood high chair and a booster seat that goes on our dinning room table chairs. She likes to pick between the both of them at meal times.

  • We have the Graco Blossom high chair. We took off the top and are using it as a booster now. It is strapped to one of our chairs so she eats at the table with us now.
