Do you just assume they're waking out of hunger and feed them? Or do you try to resettle them first, by using a paci, rocking, patting, etc?
DS weighed in at 15lbs at his 2mo. well-check and when I told the pedi he was still waking twice a night to eat, the pedi replied "Yeah, there's no way he's waking out of hunger. He just wants to be soothed back to sleep". But then he moved on to something else, and we didn't discuss it anymore. So now I'm wondering if I should try to soothe him in other ways first, or go ahead and feed him? What do you do if your LO is still waking at night?
Re: 2month olds waking at night- ?
Ditto for us. DS was almost 10lbs @ 2 months, so he's still just too little to SSTN (one feeding @ 3-4am usually). At 15lbs, your LO might not be hungry, as long as he's getting enough at his last feeding. Do you "top him off" before putting him down for the night? My sister did this w/ her kids and they both SSTN by 8 weeks.
He gets a full bottle just before bed at around 7-7:30. He was waking just at 3-4am to eat, then back down until morning. But within the last week he's gone backwards and now wakes around 1:30, then again around 4-5, then up for the day around 8.
From my experience thus far - feed him! If he drinks the entire bottle, then he's hungry. I would never deny a 2month old a feeding...... most doctors start talking about weening a night time bottle around 6 mths, certainly not 2. Just because he's a certain weight does not mean he should sleep through the night without eating. 2 mths is pretty early to be doing so. Enjoy this time! I miss it, believe it or not!!!! Good luck!
