How would you spell this name...

Right now, our favorite name for baby girl is Kaiya (prounounced Kye-uh, long i sound). I've seen it spelled several ways: Kaia, Kaya, and Kaiya, amongst others. We want to go with the spelling that is most likely to get the correct pronunciation when seen on paper. How would you spell this name?

My good friend named her baby this and she spells it Kaija. I know it's not the easiest way to get it pronounced correctly but I think it's really pretty! GL!

I would think Kaiya would get the best pronunciation results, but honestly I don't know that I've ever seen it, just heard it so I don't know what the best one is. I just know that when I saw it in the beginning of the post I knew exactly what you were going for.

I'm thinking Kaiya. I've seen the boy's name Kai before so adding a "ya" at the end sounds like it would work the best.

One of my good friends has a daughter with that name and she spells it Kaia. If it were me I'd spell it Kaya. I love y's though. Wink

Kaia was on our list for a girl... I would spell it Kaia, but I really like your Kaiya spelling too. I think Kaya would be (Kay-uh) in America. Kaya in Japanese would be (Kye-uh) but they pronounce things differently. I would stick with Kai or Kye

My friend just had a baby and named her Kaija. That is the Scandinavian spelling (all of her kids have very Scandinavian names).

i'm a teacher and if i saw 'kaia' on my roster at the beginning of the year, i would definitely know how to pronounce it the way you want it. for some reason, when i see the other spellings i would think of saying it like kay-uh (long a at the beginning).

My cousin named his son Kaja (pronounced Ki-ya too) I think people mispronounce it Ka-Jah a lot. I think Kaiya probably looks the most phonetically correct.

Kaia seems to be the most 'correct' option to me. But to be honest, I think you might end up correcting people no matter how it's spelled.

DH and I understand that if we go with this name it will probably get mispronounced a lot (one reason we haven't fully committed yet). We just want to do what we can to avoid the mispronunciation.

I work at a daycare and we've had a couple of girls with this name. I've seen it spelled Kya and Kyah. I like Kaiya though. Cute!

I have a friend of a friend on my facebook (I've met her a couple times years ago but we do not see each other now) and I see her post about her daughter named Kaya. I've never known how it's supposed to be pronounced (and since I don't hang out with her or anything I don't get to hear her pronounce it). I just always read it as Kay-uh (long a sound). I never would have thought it was a long i. So, I don't suggest spelling it that way!! Haha I think Kaiya would probably be a good way to spell it and get people to read it with a long i sound. I actually really like the name now LOL "Keye-uh" is a much prettier pronunciation then how I was trying to say it "Kay-uh".

That was one of our top 2 girl names for this baby! but as you can see we are having a boy so the name wont be used... but anyway, we were going to spell it Kyiah its different than you've mentioned but we liked it!

I would spell it Kaiya because both Kaia and Kaya make me think Kay-uh.

I love the name Kaya but my twin sister's daughter is named Maya. One would always think we were calling the other and vice versa so I decided against using it. I never thought of spelling it any other way because of how Maya is pronounced (My-Ah).
