I haven't been on this board for a while, but I would love any input on how to dye my cloth diapers. I am talking about the prefolds, the ones that look like burp cloths (chinese prefolds?)
Any suggestions? Do I use Rit dye? Does the dye last, do I have to worry about it bleeding in the wash? Do you think this would affect the 'value' of the diapers when I go to sell/pass on? (I am thinking it would cover light stains, but maybe people would be picky about the colors). Is it worth it?
Thanks so much!
Re: Tips on how to dye cloth diapers
I dyed some using Dharma dyes and they never bled in the wash. I followed the instructions to a "t". I thought it was a fun process and fun to have colored pre-folds, but I wasn't worried about resell value. In my experience, dye does not cover stains.

I followed this tutorial using Dylon dyes from Hobby Lobby (they also have them at Walmart) https://myenchanteddandelions.blogspot.com/2009/02/tutorial-for-dyeing-prefolds.html
We've been using them 2 years and they still look crisp and have never bled.
Ditto!
Do any of you know if this would work well with hemp/cotton prefolds? I would love to dye some of the ones I have just waiting (white is so boring and this is a great idea!). I have the Thirsties hemp duo prefolds. Thanks!
Works on any natural fibers.
I dyed some tshirts and socks to match and it's a cool effect to have the polyester stitching remain white while everything else is dyed.
I did the same. I love how they turned out and they haven't faded whatsoever.
