Hi Ladies,
DD's room is on the side of the sun...so she won't sleep during the day and wakes up the second the sun rises (regardless of whether or not she's still tired)
Are any of you familiar with a set of blinds/shades that work well for nurseries for this type of a situation (ie - don't want the room dark all the time, so I would be looking for something that performed double duty...)
Thoughts?
Thanks so much
Re: Dark Shades for DD's sunny room...which ones to use?
Cordless room darkening cellular shades are what we have in both DD's rooms. They were in the house when we moved in so I don't know the manufacturer or anything.
I'm going to sew some room darkening lined curtains to cover the little bit of gap between the blind and the window frame because DD#1's room faces east and she's up with the sun even with the the blinds.
They are very similar to these: https://lowes.levolor.com/products/cellular-shades/options.php
DD#1 - January 2008
DD#2 - September 2010
The cellular ones that are room darkening are what you want. They have mylar in the cells to block out all light. C's room is cavelike when the blinds are closed.
Not sure of a brand that you can buy retail. We had Budget Blinds custom make ours, since our house has a ton of south facing windows and we don't have air conditioning. It makes a huge difference in keeping the house cooler, too.

I love my JC Penny Shades! You can't beat the price, and I ordered with a promo code. They're not fancy, just functional, but great if you are on a tight budget. We have the same problem and these make the room nice and dark. Just make sure you add a little to the width measurement to prevent light from coming in the sides. Good luck!
