Dumb thing to be paranoid about

Up until about 2 days ago, I've been feeling the baby mostly in the top part of my belly - he'll roll around and give me some good jabs.  I'd still feel him down low as well but for the past 2 days I've only really felt him super low.  I keep thinking something is wrong.  Like he should be moving around towards the top more.  I feel like he's stuck down there or something!!  Stupid, I know.  Have any of you had times when your LOs weren't moving in places you expect them to or where they normally do for an extended period of time?

Re: Dumb thing to be paranoid about

  • my LO always moved very low and I will feel him 99% of the time on the left side the last two days however he has been all over the place up high to the right and in his usual location. Today he seems to of gone back to being low.

I think everything is fine with your LO and hes just testing out a new place for comfort

  • I ONLY have felt my LO super low and that makes me SUPER nervous.  I keep reading about when the baby is supposed to turn, bc my concern is the baby being breech!!!!  I know its early yet, but i completely know how you feel!!  I have dr appointment on Monday so i was going to talk to him about it then..

  • my LO was moving really low too! he was down there a few days it seemed and then the movement/kicks were back around my bellybutton again.

  • I have just started feeling LO move higher up the past week or so and then today he was just hanging out down below and not moving as much. I'm hoping that later tonight he'll start his tumbling act up high again. I wouldn't worry though :) Sure LO is just trying to find somewhere comfy!

  • I've never felt her that high up....more often than not I feel her on the right side...often she kicks my hip bone.   The highest I've felt is about an inch below my belly button in the middle...but this is usually a "rolling" movement  not a kick...

I worry about his sometimes too...like you said I worry she's "stuck" or something...but I try to rationalize that if she's moving it's a good sign...

  • Thanks for the reassurance ladies.  I know I'm being silly.  He is still moving after all.  It's just so weird!  He's always, for weeks now, been moving high.  Just so odd that he's not at all now.  Hopefully tonight when I go to bed he'll move up a bit - I tend to feel him a lot right before I go to sleep.

  • I'd just attribute it to him trying to get comfy.

Mine is usually pretty low, unless I'm wearing pants with a tighter, lower waistband, or I'm laying down, then he's kicking just at or above my belly button.

  • i heard that the baby starts getting in the position to come thew the birth canal when your so far a long so maybe that's why hes low he or she is just moving a lot and its feet might be down low or up depending on his position but as far as worrying i wouldn't!

  • I absolutely hate when I feel her kicks in my crotch.  The first time (around 23 weeks) I was terrified it meant she was trying to get out.  It happens about once a week now and isn't as scary but still annoying.

  • I was really freaking out about this last week - I had always felt the baby kicking really high (so I assumed she was head down), but last week I was feeling her really low and was feeling a lot of pressure down there.  But at my doc appointment on Friday the doctor took a look and said everything looked fine, it was just "pain and discomfort of pregnancy."  Now I feel the baby moving at my sides, so I guess she's stretched out sideways?

I think they're still moving around a lot and have a lot of room.  If you're feeling the baby down below, could be that he's head up and his little feet are just reaching down and that's what you're feeling.  Don't worry!  They'll probably do lots of flips before they settle down :)

  • I usually feel him high too, but on the morning of my 20 week ultrasound, I only felt him low. I thought that would mean he'd be breech on the u/s, but he wasn't, they said he was in an ideal position. My midwife had already said not to worry about what position he's in now, because they move around all the time at this point.

  • Could be he's flipped into the birthing position.

  • Strangely I feel my lo moving in the same places I felt DS 1 moving...in the lower left hip area and kicking up to my right side below my boob. Maybe that's the shape of my uterus or something?? I thought that was pretty interesting, but I feel low and high a lot of times at the same time.
