Right now, happily, it does not look like my doctor will order any additional ultrasounds - soooooo, I am considering going for a 3D on my own. I want to see my little lady again. I did not go before the anatomy scan but I think i want to now.
Anyone else...

Re: anyone going for more ultrasounds
My OB doesn't offer the 3D/4D ultrasounds and so my insurance does not cover it. I'd have to go about an hour away to have it done and it's around $300.00 for like 3 pictures. I've had a few ultrasounds because they thought I was high-risk, and we've seen him a lot. I think I'll just let it be a surprise what he looks like. I'd rather spend the $300.00 on stuff for him rather than an ultrasound. I'm not against it... Just don't know if I want to spend that kind of money on just a few pictures. And, they might not even be able to see much. My fear is I'd spend a lot of money and they wouldn't be able to find/see anything.
Have fun and share your photos when you're done! I'd love to see how they turned out!
My doctor's office offers an optional 3D/4D ultrasound between 30-32 weeks. However, they wont bill insurance for it... so it will cost $150 out of pocket.
The scan is 15 minutes long, and they wont guarantee that there are "good" shots taken.
But for $150, DH and I have decided that we will go ahead and take them....
My OB does an ultrasound at every checkup. She measures fluid levels and checks on baby's growth. I just saw my little guy on Monday and I go back in two weeks for another check-up (due to blood pressure) and I'll see him again. I have to say it's been nice getting an ultrasound every check-up, but last time she measured him and his stomach was measuring about 2 weeks behind the rest of his body. So that's been causing me some stress. She told me I needed to rest and drink more fluids and it should catch up. So I guess everything comes with a cost. At least we know what's going on with him and can continue to check that he's OK.
I have a 2nd anatomy scan on Friday. Doctor was not able to get some measurements during the first one, so he wanted to do another to check on the cord and check on growth. I have been constantly sick and he will use this ultrasound to determine whether or not to refer me to a nutritionist....
Depending on how this one goes will determine whether or not I have anymore. I thought the one in January would be my last one.
I don't know where in Indiana you live, but in St. John, IN (near Valporaiso) there is a place that does them for a lot cheaper than $300!
And yes, I have to go in for another u/s at 28 weeks because the baby didn't really cooperate the first time around, so the doctor couldn't get all of the pictures he wanted. I am just SO ready to find out the sex of this baby!
I'll be getting one between 30-32 weeks. I guess since my risk for Down's was elevated to 2% (and then dropped to less than 1%) due to my blood work, they want to make sure that the issue isn't related to the placenta. Also, the doctor mentioned that he saw some very minor fibroids that he figured he might as well check on. I'm looking forward to seeing my baby's face!
If I didn't have this u/s scheduled, I'd be considering doing a 3D out of pocket.
I have one scheduled in early April at 32 weeks to check if the placenta has moved up (it was low and close to my cervix at 20 weeks).
I will be asking my doctor about 3D ultrasounds at my next OB visit in a couple weeks...I don't want to dish out tons of money but I am not really sure what they charge here so we'll see if it's worth it.
Been away from theBump for a while, getting active again for all the good advice
Same for me, but mine will be at 32 weeks. If I wasn't getting this one, I don't think I would pay for a 3D. I'd rather use the money to buy baby stuff.

Last one for doctors was my 18 week anatomy scan. We are going to GoldenView ultrasound (went there at 16 weeks for early gender check) at 29w5d. We get a 10 minute 3d/4d dvd, 2 4x6 3d print outs, 2 black and white print outs and a cd of all the pictures that were taken for 139. its worth it to me :-)
The ultrasound tech is going to know my life story by the time this baby comes! I have a weekly doppler study starting today (a type of ultrasound that specifically measures and charts blood flow) on the umbilical cord. The I have a growth ultrasound every 3-4 weeks to check on how she is growing (3rd percentile last week, about 10 dasy behind EDD) and in two weeks I have an echocardiogram because while they were more confident the heart is intact at my last appointment, they are having trouble gettting as clear a view as they want because of shadowing from one of the larger fibroids.
I've now been enough times that I am starting to repeat through the techs at the office so atleast there aren't the exclamations when they first see just what I mean by "huge fibroids" (one tech looked almost angry at me when he started measuring fibroids and said, "I can't believe you got pregnant." Thanks guy.)
I don't know if I would go for an elective if this wasn't all going on.... It is cool to see her so regularly but I wish it was under better circumstances.
I just had my anatomy scan, and shouldnt need to get anymore. I will be going to do a 3D/4D at an elective place here. Theyll give me a 4D package with pictures and a DVD for $135. Im going to send the DVD to DH

For the ladies in NW Indiana/Chicago area... We are hoping to go to First Peek in Oak Park soon. Only $59 for 15-20 minutes 3D ultrasound, CD of all 3D images, 2 color thermal image prints, and 9 assorted color prints (1 sheet), printed on photo-quality paper. Their reviews online were decent and for that price, I even convinced my Sweetheart! (They do have other packages, but that's the one we're going with.)
Their website is at https://www.oakparkultrasound.com/
