I honestly had no idea I was having contractions. I had a doctors appointment one morning and right before I was leaving to go to my appointment I went to the bathroom and lost what I thought was my mucus plug. When I got to the doctor they checked me just to make sure, and sure enough I was dilated 2 cm. They hooked me up to the monitor and I was having conx every 10-12 min, after they showed me on the monitor that I was having a conx I was able to feel it so now I know what it feels like. The only other thing that stood out looking back was that the night before I did have a lot of back pain and tossed and turned all night but it wasn't really anything that I hadn't felt before since I work on my feet all day and my hips/back would always hurt.
I spent 3 days being monitored in L&D and am now home on moderate bed rest.
I had no idea, either. I was being followed for a shortened cervix, and at one of my weekly MFM appointments, I was apparently having a contraction when they started the vaginal ultrasound. Turns out the contraction caused my cervix to funnel open. It had been closed tight up until then. But I never really noticed the contractions. So, I spent 3 days in labor and delivery, and am now home on modified bedrest.

i felt fine really at first, i was having lots of bh all day even thought i was laying on the sofa and drinking water. then they let up. they i got really crampy down low like pre-period crampy. then i went to the bathroom and saw blood and dh called my midwife. i threw up on the way to the car as we were going to the hospital. i was totally dilated and having contractions by the time we got to the hospital about 15 min. later. i had ds by emergency c-section about 30 min later.
in hindsight i probably should have been paying better attention to my bh all day, but no one had told me how many was too many in an hour, and i figured that since they weren't regular it wasn't a problem.
now i'm on progesterone shots and totally paranoid about bh.
Thank you Ladies! I ended up going to the Dr yesterday because I had no idea what I was feeling and they seem to think that it is just regluar back pain. Baby looked fine, cervix was great and all. It just drives me nuts that you can't tell the difference. It's such a scary thing thank goodness I start my shots next week.
