If you were induced- did they give you something to help u sleep in hosp?

I am in L&D with an induction having my LO right now. I am curious if anyone here was induced or just had a long labor in the hosp, did they give you something to help you sleep the first night?

I haven't slept in 2 days and they told us this could be a 3 day process. I don't know if it is okay to ask for something to help me sleep. It is 10 pm now and I don't feel I can sleep at all. I sent H home cause he hasn't slept either and tomorrow is supposed to be the "big day" she is actually born so I know I will need him in the morning.

I thought I had read birth stories from people where they said they were started on pitocin and then given something like ambien to help sleep. I have ambien at home too but we were told strictly to bring NO meds from home to the hospital. I am afraid to face another night of no sleep if she really is coming tomorrow AM like they say.

They can, and should if you request it. I went in to be induced, but they only broke my water, they decided to see if that would put me into labor. So mine was not a very long labor from water break to finish it was 5 hours. The sleep I got in between was great though and helped me to have energy to push.

I took ambien while pregnant (about 6 weeks prior to delivery,) and the night after his birth. I was induced on a Thursday, and had hardly slept Wed or Thurs night. By Friday, I was going a little stir crazy, so I requested an ambien.

I was started on pitocin and than they gave me two ambiens....I than gave birth less than 8hours later! Didnt get to sleep..so ambien was a waste haha. I'm sure if you ask for something it wouldnt be a problem. The nurse wanted me to sleep so they were all about giving me something to help! Good luck!!

Thank you so much ladies. The nurse just came in and saw me in bed on the computer. She said aren't you going to sleep. I told her I couldn't and she asked if I wanted something to help me sleep. I said umm yes please. So hopefully something will be coming soon!!

I wasnt induced but they let me have Ambien while I waited to be able to get an epidural but it didn't work since the contractions were so strong...I hope it's more effective for you. Good luck!

I was given some pain killer I forgot the name since I had been in natural labor for 26 hours and my pain was a full on 9 with contractions every 2 minutes apart. That knocked me out. Then I was given an epidural while I still had the previous pain medicine in my body. That slowed down my contractions and I wasn't getting any more dilated. I have pretty much very little memory of anything beyond my first set of painkillers. Then I got pitocin that wasn't really working so they broke my water. All in all I was in labor for 36 hours.

They gave me something that curbed the pain, but also made me go to sleep. I needed it, considering baby arrived 43 hrs after my water broke.

The night I went into the hospital they did give me Ambien to help me sleep. They offered it-- I didn't request any sleeping meds.

I asked for something to help me try and sleep the night they started my induction. They offered me morphine to help curb the pain and help me sleep. It helped with the pain for a bit, but I was not able to actually sleep just relax more.
